It all started when Barbara had a affair with Craig and left her devoted hubby Hal. She married Craig but soon discovered that he was stealing money from her company. She decided to turn him into the police. While waiting for Jack, Barbara was caught in an explosion (that was really meant for Carly) that left her in a coma for weeks and horribly scarred. When she awakened, she was bitter and hellbent on revenge, so she insisted that Craig was behind the bombing.
December, 2001
Barbara enlisted her dastardly ex-hubby James Stenbeck to get rid of her three enemies — Emily, Rose and Carly. Stenbeck kidnapped them and stashed them away at a spa in Europe, where Carly and Rose were rapidly aged.

February, 2002
When Barbara rejected James, he framed her for the ladies’ disappearances. Barbara later confessed her role in the kidnappings. James set up an exchange — Carly for Barbara. Barbara insisted on going through with it.

May, 2002
Barbara, whose scarred face had been restored, was with James and learned he was holding Emily hostage and planned to kill her. Barbara saved Emily by stabbing James and the two women escaped. Barbara was not welcomed home with open arms.June, 2002
Barbara’s legal eagle Marshall Travers got her off by painting her as an innocent victim who was abandoned by her friends. While Barbara didn’t go to jail, she did lose her last two friends — Lisa and Kim — and was forced to sell BRO to Rosanna to pay for her legal fees.

August, 2002
Barbara sought custody of her son Will, and vowed to keep him away from Hal and Emily. She crashed Hal and Emily’s wedding and slapped Hal with custody papers.

November, 2002
James returned and revealed that Barbara was — gasp! — his wife. He was crushed when she rejected him, yet again.

February, 2003
Wanting to keep Rose away from her son Paul, Barbara secretly hired Paul’s friend Dusty Donovan to seduce Rose away from Paul.
