Another World Alum Alice Barrett-Mitchell Pays a Visit to the Locher Room
Alice Barrett-Mitchell, who portrayed the spiritual and intuitive Frankie Frame (also known as Mary Frances Ordway) on Another World from 1989-96 (with two more appearances in June 1999), and also appeared on the show as Frankie’s look-alike, Anne O’Donnell, in 1999, will be visiting The Locher Room on Wednesday, July 2, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Her career has spanned stage, screen, and everything in between.
Memory Lane
As Frankie, Barrett-Mitchell made magic with on-screen leading man Stephen Schnetzer (ex-Steven Olson, Days of Our Lives; ex-Marcello Salta, One Life to Live), who played Cass Winthrop. His character was mourning the supposed death of his wife Kathleen McKinnon (Julie Osburn) when he and Frankie first crossed paths. They fell in love, but then Kathleen returned, which kicked off a love triangle. Frankie won out in the end, giving birth to their daughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Frame Winthrop, in 1994. But on August 19, 1996, Frankie was strangled by Fax Newman after she said to him, “I beg of you! I have a child.” Her murder devastated all of the characters in Bay City who loved her, as well as the soap’s viewers.
The actress continued to work steadily outside of daytime, appearing in the film Sonic Impact with future Law & Order: SVU star Ice-T. She later made a guest appearance on his long-running, New York City-based show. In fact, it was the aftermath of her character Annette Fox’s murder in a 2011 episode that led Chris Meloni’s character, Stabler, to quit his job in season 12 — after he was forced to shoot Annette’s daughter to prevent her from murdering the man who had killed her mother, right in the middle of the precinct. In addition to a few appearances on SVU, Barrett-Mitchell has also guest-starred on many other prime-time shows, including Chicago and Billions, a recurring role on the TV show Heels, and the mini-series The Thing About Pam.
Barrett-Mitchell will be on hand to talk about her journey from growing up in NYC to pursuing her dream after seeing Man of La Mancha at age 10, her time in the soaps, working with her daughter Julia, and life today as an artist, wife, and proud mom of two creative daughters, and more.
