Days of Our Lives: Nadia Bjorlin Reveals Why She Turned Down a Return as Chloe
Days of Our Lives star Nadia Bjorlin, who most recently exited the role of Chloe Lane in 2023, revealed in a new interview that the show invited her back to reprise the character she originated in 1999 — but she said no.
Why Nadia Bjorlin Isn’t Returning to DAYS
On August 31, Bjorlin did a joint interview with fellow DAYS alum Kyler Pettis (ex-Theo Carver) with Michael Fairman to promote their new film, Veronica & Julian. During the conversation, she explained her decision not to return as Chloe.
Fairman brought up the speculation that former General Hospital star Sofia Mattsson (ex-Sasha Gilmore) has been hired to replace Bjorlin as Chloe, a rumor that has circulated since DAYS announced in March that Mattsson was joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
When the journalist noted that the rumor was unconfirmed by the show, Bjorlin said, “Oh, I’m not allowed — okay, I can’t say anything [on that subject].”
What she did elaborate on was her own status with DAYS. “What I can confirm is that they did ask me,” Bjorlin said. “But logistically, it just didn’t make sense.” The actress and her husband, Grant Turnbull, now live in Ireland with their two sons, while DAYS films in Los Angeles.
Bjorlin also pointed to the realities of “TV now and budgets and whatnot,” adding, “It just didn’t make any sense, and I said no.”
But it was not an easy decision for the actress. “It hurt my heart to have to say no,” Bjorlin offered. “So, I guess I can confirm that it will not be me playing Chloe if there’s a Chloe that comes back [laughs].”
Fairman asked Bjorlin about how she would feel seeing a new actress take over as Chloe. “It’s a different chapter of my life,” mused Bjorlin. “I wish another actor all the best, obviously, and whatnot, if that was their decision…. It’s okay. I’m okay because they did ask me and I said no.”
Having declined the show’s offer, news of a recast “didn’t feel like, ‘Oh, my goodness,'” Bjorlin added.
Still, she acknowledged, “Of course, it’s like, ‘Yeah, I grew up there. I feel like those were my high school/college years and that’s, like, my family.”
When Bjorlin parted ways with Days of Our Lives, Chloe left Salem in 2023 with Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), her former husband, after acknowledging that she still had feelings for him. The duo headed to New York City to see what the future might hold for their on-again romance. Philip returned solo in 2024 and revealed that things hadn’t worked out between them.
