Just a month after soap alum Colin Egglesfield (ex-Josh, All My Children) revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer for a third time, the actor returned to social media to share a positive health update. Egglesfield had battled testicular cancer twice in his 30s, and in January, reported that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, writing, “Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few health care professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery.”

“There’s few people that you can say have saved your life,” Egglesfield wrote in his Feb. 24 Instagram update. “This is my doctor, Dr. Gellhaus, and today I came in for my tests and follow-up appointment and he let me know that I am cancer-free for the third time.”

Egglesfield went on to thank Gellhaus’s team and “the incredible staff” at City Of Hope Cancer Center in Phoenix, AZ, who cared for him during and after surgery for his prostate cancer surgery, as well as the City of Hope Cancer Fighters support group.

“I’m feeling a mix of gratitude, disbelief, and numbness to all this because it’s been a lot to process and I don’t think I’ve had a chance to fully do so,” Egglesfield confessed, adding, “I have to keep reminding myself that it’s okay to feel scared and anxious and it’s courageous to ask for help when you need it.”

As he reflected on his journey, Egglesfield had a message for those followers who might be facing their own health issues or other challenges in life. “There is support out there for you, but most of the time it’s not just going to magically appear,” he wrote. “You have to be brave enough to ask for help when you need it and find the right people who will listen. And what keeps being reinforced to me is that it’s so important to listen to your gut about who you feel safe with and supported by the most,” he declared. “That has made the biggest difference for me.”

In his uplifting message, the actor also reminded those reading his post that they are not defined by the challenges they face in life. “You’re grander than it all,” he proclaimed. “I’m not my fear, my anxiousness or my scars, but I embrace it all because the only way to transform it is to own it. And with the support of amazing people such as Dr. Gellhaus and everyone else at City Of Hope, I’ve been able to start to transform my fear and heal from all this not feeling alone.”

Wrapping up his update, Egglesfield once again shared his gratitude for his urologic oncologist for not only caring for him physically, but mentally as well. “Thanks, Dr. Gellhaus, for helping me be able to appreciate another day and for providing the space to listen when I needed it most!” he concluded.
