More ABC Daytime Faves To GH?

Multiple ONE LIFE TO LIVE characters have appeared on GH since the show went off the air (and one more, Hillary B. Smith’s Nora, will debut soon, the first resident of Llanview to pop in since ABC regained the rights to OLTL and ALL MY CHILDREN roles from Prospect Park late last year), but the show has yet to include a familiar face in their Pine Valley guise. According to GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini, that may soon change. “Obviously, if there’s an opportunity to [incorporate] ALL MY CHILDREN characters, we’d love to do that, as well,” he says. “Many people out there are still mourning the loss of ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN and they still have such great affection for and memories of those shows. So if there is an opportunity to inject someone else, without infringing on the GENERAL HOSPITAL brand, I think it’s a fun thing to do, and it’s exciting for us.” Two AMC heavy-hitters, Susan Lucci (ex-Erica) and Michael E. Knight (ex-Tad), say they’d be open to GH appearances. “I’m so glad that ABC has the rights to the characters again,” Lucci declares. “GENERAL HOSPITAL has not asked me. But if they did, I would have to know what the storyline would be and that I’d be in the right hands. If they wanted me to do it, of course I would listen to them.” Knight is even more enthusiastic. “Oh, sure, in a second I’d do it,” he says. “Why not? If GENERAL HOSPITAL wanted me, I’d be all for it!” For the full story, check out the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, on sale today.
