On the Wednesday, July 9, episode of Young and Restless, teasers indicate that Jack (Peter Bergman) issues Billy (Jason Thompson) an ultimatum. Does this have to do with Jack’s significant investment in Abbott Communications? Also, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) team up to help Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), even though she doesn’t seem to think she needs much help.     Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is determined to prove herself to Cane (Billy Flynn) so that he will let her help him rule his empire. He has designs on taking over all of the big family-run corporations in Genoa City, and she longs to be at his side while he does it.

    Cane seems amused by Phyllis's determination to get in his good graces and join his quest. He recently suggested a test for her to prove she is loyal to him by betraying someone close to her. Are they revisiting that, and if so, whom will he choose?

    Cane can play all the games he wants with Phyllis, but it's Lily who has a hold of his heart and soul. He wants to win her back, but she is the one person who wants nothing to do with him. Will he figure out a way to melt her heart enough for her to forgive him and take him back?

    Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) are determined to figure out a way to help Phyllis. Is Phyllis calling Sharon out for trying to intervene? While Phyllis may need their help, she's not one to easily accept it — unless it is something she wants. She’ll accept anything from Cane — but from her ex-husband and his ex-wife? That’s much less likely.

    Sharon appears to be taking a stand with Nick. They want to work together to help Phyllis, whose downward spiral has been apparent for weeks. Has Nick suggested doing something that Sharon feels will never work? Or is something else going on here between the two former spouses?

    Jack (Peter Bergman) seems to be withholding his thoughts for now. He hasn't been very happy with his younger brother, Billy, lately. Does this have something to do with him, or could he be watching ex-wife Phyllis continue her desperate actions?

    The tension between Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jack looks palpable. Jack loaned his younger brother money to start Abbott Communications, which had its launch postponed because of this trip to France to meet Aristotle Dumas. Now that everyone knows Dumas is Cane, does Jack realize that Billy's obsession with Chancellor is once again influencing his actions?

    Diane (Susan Walters, l.) and Sally (Courtney Hope) join their respective significant others, and the women can feel the tension. Will either woman be able to smooth things out between the men, or is that an impossible task at this point?

    While there may be issues for Billy outside of his relationship with Sally, the smile on her face implies things are going well between the pair. She was worried that his obsession with Chancellor would derail things for Abbott Communications — and therefore her job — but he has made written assurances to her that she will be put in charge should he get the opportunity to run Chancellor Industries again.
