In 1997, General Hospital's Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) left Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) at the altar. In the lead-up to their long-awaited wedding, Sonny was nursing misgivings about whether marrying Brenda would be a mistake given his dangerous lifestyle, and was plagued by memories of the violent death by car bomb of his first wife, Lily Rivera and nightmares of Brenda also dying. Jason tried to reassure Sonny that both he and Brenda would be safe, but Sonny was unconvinced. He told Jason that he needed to leave Brenda in order to save her. At the church, Brenda was confident that Sonny would show up. Brenda walked down the aisle, even though the groom wasn't present. The church doors opened and she turned around expectantly, expecting to see Sonny — but instead, Jason was standing there. Brenda's smile faded, knowing what was to come. Sonny wound up slipping out of town, leaving Brenda behind to nurse her broken heart.

In 2005, Kate Robert (Lauren Koslow, r.) derailed Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) and Lucas Horton’s (Bryan R. Dattilo) wedding on Days of Our Lives by exposing the bride’s stint as “Stan” and her unholy alliance with Tony DiMera. The ceremony got off to a dramatic start when Belle went into labor. Then, Kate burst in, dressed as Stan. Sami fainted, and when she came to, Kate removed her costume and gleefully revealed the dirty details of Sami's time posing as Stan. Devastated, Lucas told Sami off for her deception. “You’re dead to me!” he bellowed. “I just hate you and you disgust me.” Sami ran out of the church in tears. Kate's triumphant smirk faded when Lucas denounced her, as well, blasting her for destroying his family.

In 2008, the late Billy Miller (pictured with Adrienne Frantz as Amber Moore) made his Young and Restless debut as Billy Abbott. Unbeknownst to the men, Chloe had arrived at the square in time to hear Rex's admission. Becoming armed with this information left Chloe greatly conflicted — on the one hand, she sympathized with Sarah, who had her reasons for not wanting Xander to know the truth, but on the other, she felt that Xander deserved to know that he had a daughter.
