Elizabeth Gave Birth to Aiden On General Hospital And More Events In Soap History For July 19

In 1985, John Aniston (pictured with Peggy McCay, ex-Caroline Brady) made his Days of Our Lives debut as Victor Kiriakis. The beloved actor, who passed away on November 11, 2022, remained with the show until his death. Prior to joining the Salem ranks in the iconic role of the powerful patriarch of the Kiriakis clan, Aniston had appeared on the show in 1970 as Eric Richards, then on Love of Life as Eddie Aleata from 1975-78 and on Search For Tomorrow as Martin Tourneur from 1980-84. He was honored with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.

In 1991, Guiding Light’s Mindy (Kimberley Simms) was shocked to spy Nick McHenry (Vincent Irizarry), a dead ringer for the late Brandon "Lujack" Luvonaczek, who had been played by Irizarry from 1983-85. Irizarry's surprise return to the show had been announced the previous month at the Daytime Emmys. Nick proved to be the secret identical twin of Lujack, and thus the son of Alexandra Spaulding. This go-round, Irizarry remained with the show until 1996, and Nick and Mindy were married from 1994 to 1995.

In 2001, the double wedding of Passions’s Ethan Crane and Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald (Travis Schuldt and Lindsay Hartley, far l.), and Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald and Sheridan Crane (Galen Gering and McKenzie Westmore, far r.), was interrupted when Ivy Crane, Ethan's mother, drove her car into the church.

In 2010, Scott Clifton made his Bold and Beautiful debut as Liam Cooper (now known as Liam Spencer). Clifton had appeared on General Hospital as Dillon Quartermaine and One Life To Live as Schuyler Joplin before joining the B&B cast. For his work as Liam, he won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in 2011, Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2013 and Outstanding Lead Actor in 2017. In 2020, as he marked his 10th anniversary on the show, Clifton recalled to Soap Opera Digest, "I had auditioned without even knowing the name of the character I would be playing. I auditioned under an alias called Adam, which is ironic because later I would be playing an amnesiac who thought his name was Adam. It was a phony script, just made up for the audition, and it was with Jacqui Wood [Steffy]. Once I got the job, I came in on a day I wasn’t yet working but it was like my orientation, where they told me where everything was. They escorted me into Brad’s [Executive Producer/Head Writer Brad Bell] office and once the door was closed, Brad said, ‘So, do you want to know who you are?’ and I said, ‘Yes, please tell me.' "

In 2010, General Hospital's Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) gave birth to her third son, Aiden. At the time, she didn't know whether Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) or Lucky Spencer was the father. DNA tests indicated that Aiden was Nikolas's son, but that proved to be the result of Helena Cassadine's machinations. Eventually, Liz, Nikolas and Lucky all learned that Lucky was, indeed, Aiden's father. The sting of this prompted Nikolas to leave town in 2011.
