Dominic Zamprogna Returned To General Hospital And Other Big Moments From August 3

In 1995, General Hospital’s Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) decided to postpone college to stay by her lover, Stone Cates's (Michael Sutton), side as he battled AIDS. Stone passed away later that year, shortly after Robin learned that she was HIV-positive. In 1996, Robin departed Port Charles to enroll at Yale.

In 1999, Robin Christopher joined the One Life to Live ranks as Skye Chandler, a role she had previously played on All My Children from 1987-91. In between exiting AMC and joining OLTL, Christopher had also played Lorna Devon on Another World. Christopher's Skye remained in Llanview until 2001, at which point the actress relocated to General Hospital and Port Charles, where she once again played Skye. She left the show in 2008, making guest appearances in 2011 and 2012.

In 2007, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald (Galen Gering) was sent to the execution chamber on Passions after being sentenced for crimes that were actually committed by Vincent (including murdering Rae and Dylan and raping Fancy). Post-execution, Endora Lennox used her magic powers to turn back time, allowing Eve to exonerate Luis by revealing that Vincent was the true culprit.

In 2012, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) remarried on Young and Restless. The duo's first marriage had lasted from 1990-94. This second stab wasn't quite as durable, with the union ending in October. Jack, who was wheelchair-bound leading up to the ceremony, secretly regained his ability to walk and planned to surprise his bride by standing up during the nuptials. Before the nuptials, Victor arrived at the Abbott house and Nikki assumed her ex-husband was going to try to stop the wedding. Instead, Victor announced that he had just gotten married — to Sharon! Sharon enjoyed sticking it to Nikki as she flashed her wedding ring. Nikki huffed that the two deserved each other. Arriving late to her own ceremony, Nikki was stunned when Nick escorted her down the aisle and when Jack rose to his feet to receive her, she was so floored that she dropped her bouquet. After exchanging heartfelt, personal vows, they were declared husband and wife and kissed as their guests applauded. Later, Nikki spotted Jack watching a video of Sharon and Victor's wedding. Nikki admitted that Victor's visit was the reason she had been tardy, adding that she wished he had stayed for the ceremony to see how happy she was to become Mrs. Jack Abbott. After enjoying some cake, Nikki tossed her bouquet, deliberately aiming for Abby.

In 2020, Dominic Zamprogna returned to General Hospital full-time as Dante Falconeri. The actor, who joined the show in 2009, had left the show in 2018 and visited the following year. Enthused the show's then co-head writer Dan O'Connor to Soap Opera Digest on the subject of Zamprogna's comeback, "Dante is an integral part of the show and when we learned that we would have the chance to have him return to Port Charles, we were incredibly excited." Zamprogna told Digest in 2024 that he came back because "I love it here and I legitimately missed my friends that I've made here. Even when you have a bad day, as everyone does, you're surrounded by people that you care about and that care about you, and I missed being part of a team."
