That letter appears to take EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) by surprise. Could it be that the correspondence has sparked another significant memory for EJ? He remembers seeing Johnny pointing a gun at him, but he hasn't remembered seeing the weapon go off.

Ever the gracious host, EJ offers Dr. Jeffrey Russell (Michael Dietz) a drink as they get down to business at the DiMera mansion. EJ is the secret money man who is angling to get his hands on the sepsis drug that Dr. Russell is developing at University Hospital.

EJ also runs into Dr. Russell while at University Hospital. Both are acting like the encounter is a coincidence, but knowing EJ, that seems highly unlikely!

Is Dr. Russell asking Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), who is his boss, to release him from his contract so he can take his research elsewhere — which is to say, to EJ, though Kayla doesn’t know that yet? She’s determined to keep his research at the hospital to secure the financial windfall that could follow its approval. Of course, it's also possible that Kayla is trying to keep him busy so Steve can steal the drug to help Bo.

Kayla and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) get into a conversation at work. Are they simply catching up — or is something more serious going on?

Kayla and Steve (Stephen Nichols) appear to be talking about something serious — probably about the drug he wants to steal from Dr. Russell to save her brother Bo. She had already let him read the file, so he has all he needs to crack the security of the office. Is he about to do it or has the deed already been done?

Steve checks in with his other partner-in-crime, Shawn (Brandon Beemer). He knows Shawn is determined to be the one to save Bo, because Shawn shot his father in the first place and has harbored a guilty conscience ever since.

Shawn also spends some time bonding with his ex-wife, Belle (Martha Madison). They are both dealing with a lot of uncertainty regarding their fathers. She doesn't know where John is and at the same time, Bo is dying from sepsis. No matter what they've been through, these two still care about each other — and each other's families.
