Heather Tom (Katie, B&B, ex-Victoria, Y&R)
“Oh, gosh, there are so many. I grew up there! Just being able to work in the company of Melody Thomas Scott [Nikki] and Eric Braeden [below] was an incredible experience. I remember one of my favorite things about working on the show back then was during the holidays. First of all, we’d have them in early November, because we were so far ahead in the taping schedule, but they would really deck the sets out. They still do but back then, it was just crazy how they’d deck the sets out and sometimes, I would go out before my scenes and sit in the Newman ranch and just be in Christmas. They’d use real trees, so everything would smell so good. I remember just wanting to sink into that world for a bit, like it was really my house, and I was just going to enjoy Christmas!”
Billy Miller (Drew, GH; ex-Billy)
“My time at Y&R was awesome. From the get-go, Jeanne Cooper [ex-Katherine, below] kind of put her arm around me and said, ‘All right, kid, let me show you how this is done.’ One time, I got a really bad sinus infection that wouldn’t go away and eventually [required] surgery. I was suffering alone on my couch and I got a phone call from her. I heard that gruff voice going, ‘Billy?’ I said, ‘Who’s this?’ She said, ‘It’s Jeanne. I know who you are — you’re young and wild. I used to be just like you! But you’re sick and I just want to make sure you’re home.’ I said, ‘I am home!’ It was kind of like a grandma reaching out, just genuinely worried that I was okay, but also telling me to behave myself! It was a treat to work with her and to be around her. She had the best stories, as did Eric Braeden [Victor]. In terms of storyline, I think my best one was on the way out, Delia’s death, and working with Amelia [Heinle, Victoria].”
Steve Burton (Jason, GH; ex-Dylan)
“Who else gets to work with Sonny Corinthos and Victor Newman? I would say, really, the fondest memory would be the relationships I made there with the cast and of course, the crew. They were great. Definitely Josh [Morrow, Nick, below], Doug [Davidson, Paul] and I had lots of laughs, too. Happy 45!”
Emme Rylan (Lulu, GH; ex-Abby)
“My favorite memory is riding a horse up to Victor Newman at the GCAC wearing nothing but a blue cape, because when in life will I ever get to do that again? That was the beginning of a great time playing Abby, and I am so happy that she lives on with such a fabulous portrayer, Melissa Ordway.”
John McCook (Eric, B&B, ex-Lance, Y&R)
“I love that it was ‘live on tape’. Once we started the episode, we didn’t stop for anything till the end. We even left blank tape for the commercials to be inserted! It made for opening night jitters every day. And, of course, I loved the musical sequences we used to do with Lance and Leslie on the pianos. They were always so beautifully done.”

“Y&R seems like ancient history to me. My fondness for Y&R harkens back to when Bill [Bell, creator] ran the show. That’s my Y&R. All of my feelings go back to that time. You might say it was
Camelot.”
