Young and Restless Comings & Goings: Christel Khalil Is Back To Work As Lily!
Great news, Young and Restless fans! Veteran star Christel Khalil, who recently welcomed a new baby, has returned to work as Lily Winters. The Daytime Emmy-winning actress has been absent from the Genoa City scene for several months while she was on maternity leave. Earlier this week, she confirmed that she had given birth to her latest bundle of joy, her second with husband Sam Restagno. Now, she has posted on her Instagram Stories to share that she is back in the studio!
Ready For Action
On February 6, Khalil posted a smiling selfie in which she posed alongside co-star Billy Flynn (Cane) and, in the caption, she teased, “Guess who’s back…?!” Flynn was Khalil’s scene partner in her final pre-maternity episode, which aired on January 7. In that show, Lily told Cane that she was leaving town to spend time with their daughter, Mattie. Both Mattie and her twin brother, Charlie, are on rocky terms with their father, and as Cane’s war with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) escalates, the tycoon is making moves to leverage Cane’s affection for Lily and the twins against him.
On air this week, the show clearly seemed to be laying the groundwork for Lily’s return as Victor hatched a plan to make Cane believe that he had abducted Lily, Mattie and Charlie. He reported to Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Adam (Mark Grossman) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) that Lily had agreed to go along with his scheme — but refused to give any specifics when pressed for further details. Meanwhile, a shaken Cane tasked Holden (Nathan Owens) with tracking down his family.
Given the high-stakes drama surrounding Lily’s whereabouts, Khalil is sure to have plenty of juicy storyline to tackle now that she’s slipping back into her character’s designer shoes! Because Y&R tapes several weeks in advance, Lily likely won’t be seen on screen again until March.
