Young and Restless Comings and Goings: A First Look At Roger Howarth In His New Role!
Ever since it was announced that Roger Howarth was joining the cast of Young and Restless in a new mystery role, fans have been awaiting the character’s first appearance on the canvas, which is slated to occur this week. In advance of his debut, the show is sharing a sneak peek of the actor as his new daytime alter ego, teasing Howarth’s imminent arrival.
Mystery Man
Howarth’s former General Hospital castmate, Tamara Braun, made her Y&R debut as Sienna Bacall on October 14, and she factors prominently in the clip, which is titled “Meet the Bacalls.” Indeed, Howarth will be playing the role of Mitch Bacall, Sienna’s husband, who has been a hot topic of conversation on the show since Sienna’s introduction.
The short promo video starts with Howarth’s character entering Sienna’s Los Angeles club, The Shadow Room, to find Braun’s character working behind the bar. “Hey,” he says as he saunters into the hotspot. She smiles as she turns to face him and returns his greeting. “Long time no see,” she then purrs, her face lighting up. A grin spreading over his own face, Howarth says, “Yeah,” then teases, “You won’t believe what I’ve been up to.”
The shot changes from a close-up to a wide shot that includes both actors, who turn and smile into the camera as we hear Michelle Stafford’s (Phyllis) voice announce: “Tamara Braun and Roger Howarth are serving up trouble on The Young and The Restless.”
Howarth is perhaps best known to soap fans for playing One Life to Live‘s Todd Manning, but he also had a long run on the CBS soap As the World Turns, where he played Paul Ryan. Following the cancellations of both sudsers, he was a GH cast member for over a decade, first as Todd, then as Franco Baldwin, then finally as Austin Gatlin-Holt. On GH, Braun’s character Kim Nero was briefly romantically linked to his Franco while Franco had been brainwashed to believe he was her ex-lover Drew Cain (as one does on a soap!). During her own time on GH, Stafford’s Nina Reeves was also in a romance with Franco.
