Young and Restless’s Holden: Nathan Owens Teases ‘Sticky Situation’ With Tamara Braun’s Sienna (EXCL)
Ever since Holden first appeared on Young and Restless in January pretending to be Damian Kane, the guy has been a bit of a mystery. But some parts of his past are beginning to come to light during his trip to Los Angeles with Claire — specifically his connection to Sienna Bacall, played by Y&R newcomer Tamara Braun. “Holden’s past does come back to haunt him,” portrayer Nathan Owens previews to Soap Opera Digest. “Paths are crossed unexpectedly, which puts Holden in a sticky situation.”
The New Kid in Town
While the details of exactly what kind of history Holden and Sienna share are still being kept under wraps, Owens is making no secret of how much he’s enjoying the chance to work with his new castmate, Braun. “Oh man, she’s cool as hell,” he declares. “She brings an interesting energy to set and she’s got a great, delightful personality. And aside from that, she’s also another great scene partner. Willing to run [lines] when you need to run [lines], go through it, and keep it interesting. She’s somebody that always tries to make things somewhat interesting and different in one take to the next take, and just approaching a scene, which is cool.”
Owens and Braun both previously appeared on Days of Our Lives, but his 2012-13 run as Cameron Davis took place between her 2011 appearance as Taylor Walker and her 2015 return as Ava Vitali. “We talked about that for a bit,” the actor shares. “I missed her, but she was telling me about her experience there and everything. We had a couple people in common that we’re friends with, so it was cool.”

A Dangerous Game
Holden not only has history with Sienna, but whatever that history consists of clearly ties into his past relationship with Audra, which he’s also avoided saying too much about. It’s become apparent that he and Audra were involved in something very bad that happened in Los Angeles, and he fears that secret coming out. “He’s highly concerned about that,” Owens confirms. “The history and all that coming out is one thing. And then [on top of that], he knows how malicious Audra can be and how she can go to any lengths to try to ruin someone’s life or worse.
“He doesn’t want that target on Claire, on himself, any of that,” the actor continues. “And he doesn’t want to be exposed, because he’s just making himself at home recently in Genoa City. So if that happens… A lot of doors potentially would close for him if that is exposed.”
Who’s That Guy?
Viewers will continue to get to know more about Holden as his past is revealed bit by bit over the course of the storyline, and Owens himself is doing the same thing as he gets each new script, filling in more and more of his character’s history. “It is cool, because I’m also finding out as well as we go along,” he says. “Some of these things that you kind of incorporate into your backstory with the character and their relationships with other people. I’ve written some other things on my own as well, from the beginning, but it’s interesting to see how it all unfolds in the minds of the writers as well.”
As the storyline unfolds, more and more about Holden’s past will be revealed, and his portrayer can’t wait to see what happens next. “It’s all little tidbits,” he enthuses. “It’s almost like putting together… It’s like a mystery for all of us, including myself. I’m like, ‘Oh, okay. All right, I did that.’ So then it adds another layer to it, then also the next story, which is really cool. I enjoy that part.”
