Will Jason Spill Josslyn’s Secret to Carly on General Hospital? Eden McCoy Breaks Down The Odds (EXCL)

Comments

On General Hospital, Josslyn’s first overseas mission for the WSB came to an end when the Five Poppies blew up last week. While it can’t be called a rousing success — Joss and Vaughn found time to become lovers, but also saw their covers blown, failed to extract much useful information about the secret lab-based activities taking place at the resort and needed rescuing from civilian Jason — Eden McCoy shares with Soap Opera Digest that she had a blast with her character’s spy game when we checked in with her about what life looks like for Joss in the wake of her adventure … especially know that Jason knows she’s a secret agent!

The Big Bang

Action and adventure hadn’t been at the center of McCoy’s life on GH before Joss entered the world of the WSB, but she’s quickly developed a taste for it. “I had so much fun doing the stunts,” she enthuses — especially the one where “we run away and there’s a giant explosion behind us” that allowed Joss, Vaughn, Jason and Britt to break free of Pascal and his minions. “That was so cool! It was a lot of pressure because it was a real, like, cannon that they used [to create the explosion] — nothing shot out that could hurt us, everything was rubber glass or rubber wood or whatever — but we only got one take or maybe two takes to get it [filmed]. And it was really tough because all four of us” — McCoy, Bryce Durfee (Vaughn), Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) and Steve Burton (Jason) — “had to time exactly when we were going to jump and fall on the floor, like you would see in a normal explosion. It was all done in real time, and if anyone messed up, the timing of it would have looked really off. So, I think we were all pretty nervous. We were all like, ‘We have to time this really correctly or else it’s going to look really bad!’ But it ended up being totally fine and fun. Also, where Bryce and I were landing on the floor, it was seen in an aerial shot and all in one shot, so we couldn’t have any knee pads or anything to fall on. We were like, ‘Okay, well, we’ll just get a few bruises and it’ll be fine!’ And it was. And luckily, we got it all done in one take and the explosion looked really cool. The lighting was great — all the departments did a really great job, and hopefully it looked just as good on TV as it did on set!”

With the Five Poppies behind them, Joss and Vaughn will have to come to terms with what the future holds — or doesn’t — for their burgeoning romantic relationship. And Joss also has to navigate a changed dynamic of a different sort: the implications of Jason now knowing that she works for the WSB! “I think she’s probably going to lie to herself [about it not posing a problem],” chuckles McCoy. “Obviously, she’s confided so much in the character of Jason, and it’s obvious to her that he would do anything for her mom, so of course, that relationship he has with her mom makes Josslyn nervous now that he has this information.”
On the other hand, McCoy argues, the Jason to Carly pipeline might not be that direct. McCoy explains, “I think that as nervous as his loyalty to Carly makes her, he’s her godfather, and she has the same sense of Jason somehow being loyal to her and keeping that secret because he knows her mom as well as she does and also knows that Josslyn is her own person. This is already done — there’s no getting out of this. So, I would imagine for the character of Jason, he’s in a really hard place. For Josslyn, she’s already been lying to her mom — she made that choice and she’s been lying in it. But Jason finding out adds that level of reality that, ‘My mom could find out and my life could change because of that.’ But Joss trusts Jason so much, and there’s a part of her that trusts that he recognizes that telling her mom wouldn’t change anything, it would just hurt Carly, hurt Joss and add this extra layer of pressure. So, I think that’s what Joss is going to choose to believe, for her own state of mind — but obviously, anything can happen!”
