Who Shot EJ On Days Of Our Lives?

Comments

Days of Our Lives has kicked off a tantalizing new mystery story: Who shot EJ? It’s not the first time the DiMera scoundrel has been on the wrong side of a gun. Will put a bullet in him in 2007 after EJ coerced Sami into divorcing Lucas and marrying him. Sami shot EJ in the head in 2010 upon learning that he was plotting to abscond Salem with their children, Johnny and Sydney. And Clyde’s henchman opened fire and “killed” EJ in 2014 (he was revealed to be alive in 2017) after Clyde and EJ got into a heated argument over the drug territory in Salem. This time around, there is a long list of suspects who might have wanted EJ dead. Here’s a look at the potential shooters and their motives.

Arnold

After Rita informed Arnold that he was heading back to Argentina and tasered him, the Rafe doppelganger hasn’t been seen or heard from. However, he did express his displeasure about returning to his previous hideaway. Arnold has made his way back to Salem before and very likely could have done it again. He may have wanted to have one final showdown with EJ for hijacking his life. And what better payback than riddling him with a bullet or two?

Ava

Although there’s never been any love lost between Ava and EJ — he kidnapped her son, Tripp, and she retaliated by abducting his mother, Susan, and nearly causing for her death — she had hoped he’d do the right thing when he found her bound and held at the Blake house in Aremid. But instead of setting her free, he left her there at the mercy of her captor, Rachel/the Woman in White. Considering Ava’s past mob ties, volatility and penchant for revenge, she could have opted to settle her latest score with EJ with a bullet before ducking out of Salem.

Belle

Seduced and fooled by EJ time after time, Belle was starting to believe that he might have actually changed; particularly after he opened up about his genuine feelings for her. However, that fantasy came crashing down when she found out about his latest alleged crimes against Rafe and Jada. Bamboozled by him yet again, Belle, who’s the Salem DA, was forced to recuse herself from the pending case against her lover. Perhaps her shame over being played by EJ again could have led her to do the unimaginable and pull the trigger.

Chanel

Chanel, EJ’s daughter-in-law, got her hopes up about adopting Sophia and Tate’s baby, but Mrs. Choi put the kibosh on it, citing EJ’s scandalous past; she didn’t want her biological grandchild influenced by the villainous DiMera. Chanel was one of many who confronted EJ before he was shot, and she had double reason to take him out. Not only is he responsible for crushing her dreams of motherhood, but he also turned her husband Johnny’s world upside down after he learned his father is a rapist.

Gabi

Just last month, EJ’s former sister-in-law — and former fling — stormed into the DiMera mansion wielding a gun and threatened to shoot the man who held her brother Rafe hostage while tasking impostor Arnold to take over his life. While EJ made it out of that confrontation bullet-free, it’s certainly possible that Gabi (who already has one murder conviction under her belt) couldn’t resist her drive to make sure that the man who came so close to destroying Rafe’s life pay a whopping price for his mischief.

Jada

For months, Jada was caught in the crosshairs of the twisted doppelganger plot, duped into thinking Arnold was the man she loved. She was crushed when Faux Rafe stopped their wedding and produced evidence (fabricated by EJ) that she was a crooked cop, costing her her job as police commissioner. And upon learning that fake Rafe cheated on her with a stripper, she ended up having a one-night stand with Shawn. Sure, Jada has Rafe back now, but the damage EJ caused was irreparable and could have pushed her to the edge.

Johnny

Finding out that he was conceived via EJ’s rape of Sami has upended Johnny’s world. Disgusted by his father’s vile act of violence — and furious that his family kept the details of his conception from him his entire life — Johnny has been on the warpath for answers. He punched EJ after learning the vile secret, but would he have actually taken things to the next level and tried to kill him?

Kate

After learning that Kate was the one who told Johnny the truth about his conception, EJ charged over to the Brady Pub and blasted her. The pair argued vehemently, with EJ vowing that Kate would “rue the day” she revealed the horrific secret to his son. Then he upped the ante, suggesting that maybe he’d destroy her children as payback. Ever the protective mama bear, Kate snapped and vowed to kill EJ herself if he laid a finger on any of her kids.

Kristen

After brokering a deal with Jada that would grant Rachel immunity if she testified against EJ, Kristen believed she’d secured her fragile mother’s freedom and safety. What she hadn’t counted on was Rachel telling EJ about that plan and him sabotaging it. By the time Kristen returned to the DiMera mansion, the only thing left of her mother was her white shawl. EJ simply announced that Rachel was “gone,” leaving Kristen to wonder what he’d done to her. When he wouldn’t say and left the room, Kristen picked up a gun. Could she have shot him in a fit of anger to avenge her mother?

Paulina

A woman of strong principles and integrity, Paulina’s been made to look a fool by EJ time and time again. After all, he served as the Salem DA under her watch as the town’s mayor and operated underhandedly on more than one occasion. Her professional loathing of EJ was recently matched by her personal one when he, however inadvertently, was the catalyst in shattering her daughter Chanel’s adoption plans. Perhaps Paulina thought the only way to stop him from wreaking more havoc was to kill him.

Rachel/The Woman in White

While Rachel was disappeared by EJ and is likely being held captive somewhere, she’s proven she has a capacity for escaping. It’s quite possible she made her way back to the mansion and decided to exact revenge on EJ. After all, she’d just reunited with Kristen and gotten to know her namesake granddaughter when EJ separated them. In Rachel’s mind, that could have been grounds for murder.

Rafe

Does anyone have more cause to off EJ than Rafe? The two men have been enemies for years, dating back to their rivalry over Sami. Not once but twice, EJ replaced Rafe with his creepy lookalike, Arnold, held him captive and injected him with drugs designed to wipe out his memories. EJ’s latest stunt kept Rafe away from his fiancée and family for months, while Arnold took over his life and blew up his wedding to Jada. Perhaps Rafe finally decided the only way to make EJ properly pay for his crimes was by gunfire.

Roman

Roman has despised EJ for decades, dating back to his feud with EJ’s late father, Stefano. The former cop never approved of his daughter Sami’s marriage to the rogue and was also outraged that EJ took Eric’s infant son, Jude, away from him. Having EJ threaten Kate and her children’s lives could have been enough to finally send Roman over the edge and retaliate by attempting to put an end to EJ permanently.

Sami

Finding out that Johnny uncovered the sordid story behind his conception surely stirred up some long-buried feelings in Sami, forcing her to reexamine what EJ did to her decades ago. Having it all brought back to the surface — and knowing how much Johnny is suffering from the revelation — could have incited Sami’s anger at EJ all over again. That, coupled with her likely guilt over not being the one who broke the news to Johnny, might have been the final straw that pushed Sami over the edge and decide to eliminate EJ from all of their lives permanently.
