Tune-In Alert! Halloween Special On DAYS!

Comments

For the second year in a row, DAYS has a special Halloween episode planned. “Last year, it was Abigail’s dream and we got to do all these outrageous things and bring certain people back to life and just have this kind of wacky, over-the-top Halloween show that to me was very DAYS OF OUR LIVES-y,” says Head Writer Ron Carlivati. “It was successful last year and the audience seemed to enjoy it, so we were lucky that Halloween aired during the week so we could do it on that day. The stories lined up for us to have this pause moment and do this.” Carlivati looked to the big screen for inspiration. “Originally, I had wanted to do a parody of The Exorcist because Marlena has been possessed by the devil and so it seemed like the perfect way to be able to have a nod back to that storyline without really doing it,” he reveals. “The more we talked about it, it was a very complicated thing to do and we were limited by certain things. So because of Abigail, who’s pregnant, we were able to have elements of The Exorcist, but it morphed a little more into Rosemary’s Baby. Once we hit upon that, we realized it made more sense and the whole thing started to fall together a lot more easily and a lot clearer.” Look for the return of Andre as part of this story. “In Rosemary’s Baby, the actual father of the baby was the devil, and so in our ver- sion it’s, ‘In the world of Salem, who is the devil?’ And so the character of Andre immediately came to mind. We have a lot of fun with is he or isn’t he the devil here? You have to watch it to find out exactly how that plays out, but he does play a major role in what happens in the episode.” Carlivati has two surprises planned in the final act. “The final twist at the end of the episode will have a major impact on John and Marlena’s current storyline,” he teases.
