Tristan Rogers to Make Surprise Appearance on Young and Restless as Colin Following His Death at 79
On Monday, Young and Restless announced that the late Tristan Rogers will make his final television appearance on the show’s Tuesday, August 26 episode, reprising the role of Colin Atkinson. The episode will focus on Colin’s son, Cane Ashby, shedding light on the years he spent away from Genoa City.
End of an Era
Y&R announced Rogers’s surprise return on its official social media channels, in a video featuring Rogers’s Y&R leading lady, Jess Walton (Jill). “Tristan Rogers was a respected member of the soap opera community,” she began. “And he was a beloved member of the Young and the Restless family. And I had the pleasure of being his scene partner for many years. I adored working with him.” That led into a clip of one of Jill and Colin’s classic scenes. The caption read, “On behalf of the entire Y&R family, Jess Walton pays tribute to her longtime scene partner, Tristan Rogers, who makes his final television appearance on tomorrow’s episode of The Young and the Restless. As we revisit one of their most memorable scenes — an emotional moment between Jill and Colin from 2014— we are reminded of the lasting impact Tristan brought to our show, both on and off screen. He will forever be missed.”
Rogers, who passed away from cancer on August 15 at the age of 79, originally played Colin from 2010-12, returning from 2014-17 and making his last appearance in the role in 2019. Cane, Colin’s son, was originally played by Daniel Goddard (now Professor Henry Dalton on General Hospital), who also exited in 2019. When Billy Flynn assumed the role of Cane in June, Cane revealed that his father had died six months earlier.
When Rogers left Y&R the first time, he returned to General Hospital in the role that made him a star: Robert Scorpio, who he originally played from 1980-92. Rogers had made return trips to Port Charles in 1995, 2006, 2008 (also appearing on the GH spinoff, GH: Night Shift). Following his 2012 comeback, he returned again from 2013-14, doing double duty with Y&R from in 2015 and 2016. Following his 2017 departure from Y&R, Rogers came back to GH in 2018 and remained as Robert on a recurring basis from 2019 through 2024, then popped up again for two final episodes in July 2025.
