Tristan Rogers Makes Surprise Return to General Hospital After Announcing His Cancer Diagnosis
Actor Tristan Rogers made a surprise return to General Hospital as Robert Scorpio in an episode that aired on July 17, the same day that he publicly announced his cancer diagnosis. Earlier in the day, the actor sent a press release through his friend, publicist Anthony Turk, to inform fans that he had been diagnosed with cancer and was on a treatment plan. As his supporters processed this heartbreaking news, they then received another chance to see the daytime vet on screen again when Robert opened his door to some special visitors.
Looking Back
Rogers made his debut as WSB agent Robert Scorpio back in December 1980, playing the popular character until 1992, then reprising the role numerous times over the years. After returning to GH in 2018, he remained with the ABC sudser for a much longer stint that lasted until November 2024. During breaks from Robert’s life in Port Charles, Rogers also played Colin Atkinson on Young and Restless, Hunter on Bold and Beautiful, Lex Martin on The Bay, and Doc on Studio City, a role which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award.
The last time viewers saw Robert on screen was back in November 2024, when he had split up with Diane and surprised Holly by accompanying her as she left Port Charles to find a way to pay off her debts. It appears that the couple is doing pretty well for themselves, because their home is where Jason brought Sasha and her newborn daughter, Daisy, as she was desperate to get away from the danger in Port Charles to keep her child safe.
“Hello, luv,” Robert said with a bright smile as he opened the door to see Sasha holding Daisy with Jason standing behind them. Sasha returned his smile with a beaming grin of her own. “Hi, Dad,” she responded, presenting the bundle of joy in her arms. “It’s so good to see you. And this perfect little girl is your granddaughter, Daisy.”
Sasha and Robert barely had time to process learning that they were father and daughter before he and Holly left Port Charles, but now it looks like they’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other. And also, the adorable new addition to the Scorpio family tree.
