The Young and the Restless Alum Sasha Calle Lands Major Role In The Exorcist Reboot
After getting her big break playing Lola Rosales on Young and Restless, Sasha Calle has gone on to land roles in some high-profile movies. Now, she is adding yet another big project to her growing resume. She’s gone from soap heroine to superheroine, but now things are getting seriously scary.
Devil of a Time
Deadline is reporting that Calle has been cast in the upcoming horror film The Exorcist, which is scheduled to release in theaters on Friday, March 12, 2027. The movie is written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who knows all about horror, having written and directed movies like Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep as well as Netflix series such as The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher.
According to Deadline, “the film will tell an all-new story set in The Exorcist universe and is not a sequel to 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer, which came out in 2023.” Calle’s character in the movie is still a mystery at this time, though she’s joining a cast of big names that includes Academy Award nominees Scarlett Johansson, Laurence Fishburne (ex-Joshua Hall, One Life to Live), Diane Lane and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hamnet‘s Jacobi Jupe will also appear in the film. Production is currently underway in New York City.
Calle joined the cast of Y&R back in 2018 and earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer in 2020 for her work on the soap. Lola was an aspiring chef who was in a popular pairing with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). When their marriage tanked, Lola left Genoa City in 2021 to take a job at a restaurant in Florida.
While still appearing on Y&R, Calle was cast as Supergirl in the DC Comics superhero movie The Flash, which came out in June 2023. In 2024, a change of direction for the DC cinematic universe led to the role of Supergirl being recast with Milly Alcock, who debuted as the character in 2025’s Superman. Calle went on to play Sandra in 2024’s On Swift Horses and can currently be seen alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in the hit crime thriller The Rip, which premiered on Netflix on January 16.
