Back To The Future: Li (Naomi Matsuda, l.) is on the hunt for answers about what really happened back in the day between Poppy (Romy Park) and Jack (Ted King).

Ted King, who won a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Guest Performer in 2022 for his portrayal of Bold and Beautiful‘s Jack Finnegan, is returning to the show as the question of who really fathered Luna Nozawa becomes a storyline focal point (again). He made his B&B debut in 2021 and last appeared in July 2024.

Jack Is Back

In an interview with TV Insider, the actor — who prior to joining B&B was well-known to soap fans for his roles on Loving/The City (Danny Roberts), General Hospital (Luis Alcazar/Lorenzo Alcazar) and One Life to Live (Tomas Delgado) — shared that B&B had reached out to him late last year, when he had just wrapped up work on two projects, one a film and the other a baseball-themed TV show called Heavy Hitters, which co-stars Adam Huss (GH’s Nikolas Cassadine). “It was just perfect timing and a wonderful experience,” he said of his B&B comeback.

King previewed that in terms of drama, he hits the ground running as Jack. In Li’s (Naomi Matsuda) office, he finds not only his estranged wife, but her sister, Poppy (Romy Park) — and Li accuses Jack of being the father of Poppy’s murderous daughter. Noted King to TV Insider, “It’s exciting for me as an actor, and in this particular situation, it’s a complicated story involving his ex-wife and her sister and accusations about paternity.”

According to King, Jack is “completely blindsided” by Li’s allegation, as he had been under the impression that Li wanted to reconcile with him. So, not only are his hopes of patching up his marriage dashed, but he’s now got some serious explaining to do. King shared that even though Jack has a less-than-perfect track record when it comes to fidelity — after all, his adult son Finn, who he and Li adopted, is the result of his cheating on Li with Sheila — he is quick to defend himself.

The results, King shared, are “very intense” scenes, but he credited his co-star, Naomi Matsuda, for shouldering much of the challenge they presented. “They were most complicated for Naomi to perform because she has so much physical behavior within the scenes,” King explained.

King revealed that Li isn’t content just to take Jack’s denials at face value and is determined to conduct a new paternity test to verify whether he’s being honest of not. “She literally stabs Jack to draw his blood,” the actor reported, adding that he and his scene partners worked out the choreography of the blood-drawing when preparing for the scenes in the B&B dressing rooms.

The paternity test results are revealed to the audience this Friday, January 24.
