Reunited

Like many of soaps’ real-life supercouples, Robin Christopher and Matt Cranefirst met on the set (at ANOTHER WORLD, where he played Matthew Cory and she was Lorna Devon). They fell in love and eventually married in 2000. Then, they never worked together again — until now. Christopher, who plays GENERAL HOSPITAL’s fieriest redhead, Skye, recently welcomed her hubby to the set, as he took on the role of police lieutenant Ross.Soap Opera Weekly: So how does it feel to be working on the same show again?
Robin Christopher:It’s great.
Matt Crane: It’s a lot of fun. It’s exciting. I thought we’d never have the opportunity to do it again. But it brings back a lot of fun memories.
Christopher: When we were on ANOTHER WORLD, we always said to each other, “Lets just cherish this time, because we’ll probably never work together again.” And now that we are, it’s like, “Oh. wow, never say never” (laughs).Weekly:What was your first day of shooting like?
Crane: It was the day that there’s a lot of dramatic shooting going on. I play this detective and I’m part of the PCPD It was a good day because I had some of my lines with the other characters but the focus and the action was on other things. I had a lot of fun.
Christopher: It was a longer day, though, than normal.
Crane: And my legs hurt. I work all day at home and I’m not that tired. I go up to the studio and I stand around all day and I’m exhausted.
Christopher: It’s a different kind of exhausted.Weekly:Will there be a few romantic sparks between your characters?
Crane: Well, there’s bound to be between me and Robin.
Christopher: Aww. (laughs)
Crane:I mean, even if they don’t write it…I’m not going to be able to hide that. We were just saying to each other, it’ll be our little video—record of the three of us on TV.
Christopher: Me, you, and baby. Although, they probably won’t show my belly. They’ll be shooting us both from the waist up. They’re so cute at the studio. Everybody’s like “Oh my God. It’s so cute! Your husband’s working.” Everybody’s been so welcoming.
Crane: And it’s so nice for me. Everyone loves and respects Robin so much there and it makes me feel great. When you go to a place and everyone likes your spouse and thinks she does such a great job. It makes you feel good.Weekly:Would you be open to staying longer?
Crane: It’s the kind of thing that’s not going to make me run out and get an agent and start auditioning. But at the same time, it’s not the type of thing that I never want to do again. The possibility always exists for the right job at the right time and we’ll just see what happens. I’m open to the possibilities.
Christopher: We thought we’d never had a kid. (laughs)Weekly:It’s nice that you get to spend more time with each other now.
Christopher: Yeah, I know. Maybe that wouldn’t be good for some couples, but we’re like, “The more they better.” (laughs)
Crane: We spend, literally all our time together when Robin’s not at work, so even before Robin went back to work at ONE LIFE TO LIVE (where she played Skye) we spent every minute of every day, like 24 hours together and it seemed so natural. So when she goes off to work now it’s like, “Aww, you have to go to work” and then we’re so excited to see each other when she comes back. Hey, it sounds a little queer, but it’s true. It’s just our life.
