Adrienne Frantz (Amber, B&B) recently suffered a fashion disaster that was far worse than wearing white after Labor Day. It all started when the actress decided to do some very early spring cleaning with her extensive wardrobe. “I went through my closet and pulled out every nice thing I owned to send to the cleaners,” explains Frantz. “My Prada, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana — all my designer clothes. I had four extra-large garbage bags of all my best duds. We’re talking about thousands of dollars worth that I’ve collected over the years.”Frantz then asked her cousin Brandon, who regularly takes care of odd jobs for her, to deliver the clothing to the dry cleaners. “I knew he was taking off for vacation, but he said he could take care of it before he had to go,” she continues.Once her cuz had departed, Frantz decided there was an item of clothing she needed. “There was this one pair of pants that I really wanted to wear, but I couldn’t get a hold of Brandon to find out what dry cleaners he went to,” she sighs. “I called around, but nobody had them.”As soon as Brandon returned, his relative had one thing on her mind. “I asked him where he took my clothes,” says Frantz, but she wasn’t prepared for his answer. “He told me he didn’t have time to go to the dry cleaners after all, so he dropped all the bags off on my porch.”Turns out that location has other functions. “My housekeeper puts the trash on the porch for the gardener to throw away, so all of my clothes got thrown out,” Frantz moans. “I cried and cried. I was so heartbroken. The worst part: It’s not like it all went to a shelter, where someone could use them. Everything is in some landfill.”Frantz’s first response to Brandon? “I almost killed him,” she chuckled. “But can you imagine the headline? ‘Soap Actress Stashes Cousin’s Body Under Rack at Loehmann’s!’ I had just bought tons of brand-new stuff, too, that I had only worn once. It was tragic. I was so upset. I was hugging my shoes and handbags and sobbing, ‘At least I still have you.’ That’s the one of the worst things to happen to me. There was a lot that I’ve collected over the years. All my favorite sweaters, all my black pants are gone, all my good skirts. I mean, I took everything out of the closet.”Some of Frantz’s beloved possessions are irreplaceable. “There was this little black Prada sweater that I bought in Milan and it was so adorable, but they just don’t make it anymore,” she laments. “A lot of my clothes were last season, so they don’t make them anymore. I might go to the outlet malls and see if I can find some of the stuff. I have a lot of room in that closet now. I had it so organized — from spaghetti straps to short sleeves to quarter-length sleeves to — well, nothing to wear! I’m devastated, but it’s a good excuse to go shopping again. I’m obsessed with clothes, so I have to replenish my wardrobe now. I’m going to need major retail therapy.”But a couple of shopping trips haven’t provided the comfort Frantz is looking for. “I bought some new stuff already, but it was depressing,” she weakly smiles. “As I’m unpacking, I was like, ‘This would have gone great with that black shirt with the little lace edges.’ I remember every article of clothing I bought and from where. It’s like all my memories. All of it’s gone.”Fortunately, the clotheshorse can now look back at her ordeal with some humor. “Now it’s a little funny,” she admits. “I can laugh about it, but at first, I was devastated. My friends would laugh and I would yell, ‘It’s not funny! This is a travesty of epic proportions!’ I’m such a drama queen anyway.”
