LOVE OF LIFE’s Sally Stark

Comments

Soap Opera Weekly: Tell me about the character you played on LOVE OF LIFE.
Sally Stark: Her name was Kate Swanson. She was a nightclub singer. Jerry Lacy (ex-Rick; ex-Tony, DARK SHADOWS), who played the night-club owner, [his character] hired someone who raped Kate. She went through being raped, then getting married and giving birth to a blind child. And then, ironically, making a recording, (she) suddenly (had) difficulty singing and they discover Kate has throat cancer.
Weekly: So it was a rough four years.
Stark: It was a rough four years (laughs) I left it because I got married in real life to an actor, Ron Harper, and moved to California and then I was on DAYS OF OUR LIVES there (ex-Sharon). That was for a year because then we came back to New York and he went on LOVE OF LIFE (ex-Andrew; ex-Baxter, CAPITOL) and now we are divorced.Weekly: You have a nightclub show coming up. What can fans expect?
Stark: The purpose of it is to celebrate my new CD [Sally Stark Sings Maxine Sullivan], so I will be singing the songs on the CD with the musicians who did it with me, but it will be cabaret in that I’ll be talking about Maxine Sullivan [a jazz singer who scored her first top 10 hit in 1937 with “Loch Lomond”], about myself, so I won’t just be standing up there, do 10 songs and then say goodbye (laughs).Weekly: Do you have dates for the show?
Stark: It’s May 6 at 7 p.m., May 14 at 9:15 p.m. and May 21 at 9:15 p.m. (at Danny’s Skylight Room in New York City).Weekly: Where can people buy the CD?
Stark: I have my own Web site (see sidebar). And people can go to that to see my whole bio and then at the end they can click on if they want to buy [the CD] or hear it.
