Is Nathan on General Hospital an Impostor? Vote Now!
When Nathan West showed up on General Hospital very much alive seven years after his death, many fans were initially thrilled to see Ryan Paevey back on the soap playing the role again. However, those same fans quickly found themselves asking all kinds of questions, given how definitive Nathan’s death appeared to be. After all, the hero police officer’s funeral was open casket, and after his loved ones laid him to rest, his widow, Maxie, watched him walk off to the other side hand in hand with her late sister, Georgie. So how could he possibly be alive?
Who’s That Guy?
As far as viewers knew, Nathan died in February 2018 after being shot in the chest by his biological father, Cesar Faison. But in September 2025, he arrived in Port Charles looking extremely robust for a supposedly dead guy, and as he recuperated from a car accident that landed him in the hospital, fans learned that Nathan seemingly had no memories of where he’d been during all those years he was being mourned back home. His miraculous resurrection also just so happened to come on the heels of the July 2025 revelation that his sister, Britt Westbourne, had faked her own death back in January 2023.
But it was Britt’s response to seeing Nathan again that really sent GH viewers into a tizzy of speculation about what was really going on here. Britt wasn’t nearly as thrilled to see him alive as their mother, Liesl Obrecht, was; in fact, she was downright tense. And her reaction to seeing that young James was going to meet the father who had supposedly passed away before his birth made things even more suspicious. Then there was that smile Nathan shot Britt, which struck many fans as sinister. Fans are theorizing that Nathan could be the mysterious boss that Britt was working for at The Five Poppies resort in Croatia, perhaps even Faison back from the dead and posing as his son like he once passed himself off as Duke Lavery using a high-tech mask. Farfetched? Sure! But as the show’s head writers, Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten, noted to Digest, both Faison and Obrecht “exist in that soap opera space in which anything is possible.”
