Jeffrey learned that Alonzo was stuck in D.C. due to bad weather, so Jeff, Dinah, Cassie and Edmund piled into Jeffrey’s van. Pringles served as the gratuitous P&G product placement for this episode as a pregnant Dinah craved them and Edmund and Cassie munched on them, too. The van broke down and Cassie and Jeffrey went to get help, leaving Dinah and a jealous Edmund behind.
Mallet worked to keep Harley — suffering from a concussion — awake, and got news that all of the beds in the infirmary were full due to a convenient outbreak of food-poisoning. Mallet reminded Harley that this wasn’t the first time that he had to keep her awake — cut to a recreated flashback of Harley suffering from hypothermia. Harley reminded Mallet that their relationship wasn’t all romance and life-threatening illness. Why did you humiliate me at the police academy? she queried. I was hard on you because I loved you, he explained.
Gus rushed to Company and explained to Buzz that he had been MIA because Alan (really Olivia) had locked him in the boiler room. But not to worry, Gus locked dear old dad up in return. An eavesdropping Lizzie grabbed Coop and went off in search of her grandfather. The fired guard who roughed up Harley went to Company to drink his worries away. Buzz spilled beer on the guard to trick him into taking off his uniform so Gus could break into the prison, where he was recognized by Harley’s cell mate Lena. Lena led Gus to the warden’s office where he spotted Harley resting her eyes with her head in Mallet’s lap. Probably not the reunion he was anticipating.
Lizzie and Coop found Alan, but she proved reluctant to let her grandfather out of the boiler room. Why did you lock Gus down here? she demanded. Though Alan insisted that he didn’t, Lizzie remained unconvinced. Coop eventually persuaded Lizzie to spring Alan by reminding her that he had a heart condition. But Alan rewarded Coop’s charity by attacking him, so Lizzie threatened to lock Alan up again. You’re doing this for him, Alan accused. “You’re right. And it’s about time,” Lizzie spat back. “I don’t want to wind up like dad or like you.” She and Coop left Alan a free man, and Coop comforted her when she worried she couldn’t escape the Spaulding legacy.

Wrapped in a sheet and lounging on the bed, Reva clinked glasses with Nate. Reva teased that he had no idea whether she was some serial killer (um, shouldn’t that be the other way around: She should be worried that he could be.) Reva asked Nate to turn around while she dressed. He offered his help buttoning her dress as his fingers were “nimble” (Seriously, that’s the word he used.) Reva laughed that this was probably the most unusual way that she had ever met someone (coming from Reva, that means a lot). He handed her his number, but Reva turned him down. Nate kissed her on the hand and she scurried out of there….
Sebastian told Alan that he hadn’t found Gus yet. Josh burst in and called Alan a coward and ranted that he was tired of Alan bulldozing his way around Springfield. Josh went off on Alan for firing Reva from WSPR. Sebastian then gave Alan an itinerary of Liv’s coming and goings. After Alan left, Josh asked Sebastian if he remembered the offer he and Blake made, the one about bringing down Alan? Well, Josh was in. Later, Reva went downstairs to Liv’s bar where she sweet-talked Josh. She announced that she knew she still had it, that magical sexual appeal. Josh chuckled that he’s been telling her that for weeks, what changed her mind? She actually told him the truth about Nate, but wouldn’t you know it: Josh didn’t believe her. Josh then revealed that he knew that she was fired from WSPR. He said she could work for him at Lewis Construction. To say she was offended would be an understatement. They started to fight….
Harley asked Mallet if he had given Alan the message about Gus. Mallet refused to get involved, which really ticked Harley off. Mallet warned his ex that she may be in danger. Harley scoffed that she trusted his opinion about as much as she did Alan’s. Officer Brisco came in and Mallet sent Harley away to do some filing. Instead of working, Harley took out a photo of Gus and fantasized that he was safe and they had some time to do some smooching. Brisco stormed out of Mallet’s office. Turned out he was fired for being a dirty cop. Another guard came to bring Harley back to her cell, but instead the guard and Brisco beat up Harley because they thought she was a snitch. Mallet rushed in and put on a show for the guards about how Harley was a troublemaker. The guards left and an injured Harley fainted in Mallet’s arms. He carried her to his office and phoned for a nurse. She opened her eyes, reached for his face and said that she finally trusted him….
A weak Gus called his captor a coward (ah, the word of the day in Springfield). Olivia yelled through that distorted voice machine that if he didn’t drop the investigation, someone he loved would get hurt. Bill surprised Liv, who quickly made up a story about some horrible maintenance guy wasn’t doing his job, so she had to come to the basement to check on him. Bill offered to help and unknowingly spoke to Gus through the voice machine. Gus demanded that the door be opened. Bill didn’t recognize the voice and thought the hired help was crazy. As Bill and Olivia kissed outside the safe room, Gus found his last cigarette — and purposely started a fire. Alan rescued him and, with a handy dandy fire extinguisher, took out the blaze. Gus accused Alan of kidnapping him. Gus flipped while Alan badmouthed Harley for the way she had ruined his sons’ lives. Gus threw Alan in the locked room. Alan whimpered that he was claustrophobic. Meanwhile, Bill and Liv took the lovin’ to his apartment. They ended up in bed where Olivia fretted that she wasn’t good enough for Bill.

Josh arrived on the scene of Reva’s run-in with the rearview mirror and demanded to know what was up, but she fibbed that the car had been clipped in a hit-and-run. Josh could see that something was wrong with Reva so she confessed….that she quit her job at the station. Great! replied Josh, now we’re footloose and fancy free and eligible for a senior citizen discount. His joke didn’t go over well with Reva, who begged out of the conversation to go wrap things up at the office…but really headed to Olivia’s bar for another drink, where she ran into Bill. “What is a gorgeous babe like you doing all alone?” he asked. “Waiting for guys like you to try out their lamest lines,” she quipped. The bartender delivered Reva a drink along with a note from a secret admirer and a room key. Assuming that it was an offer for a romantic evening with her hubby, Reva went upstairs and hopped into bed naked, shouting to for Josh to “get it while it’s hot.” That’s when notJosh came out of the bathroom, startling Reva. She explained she believed the note was from her hubby. “No harm done. Amusing anecdotes all around,” assured her admirer Nate. Reva and Nate had a few drinks and she confessed that she’d been canned that day. “When you go home, you tell that husband of yours that he’s a lucky guy because next time I find myself in a hotel room with you, I might not be such a gentleman,” Nate told Reva, but she wasn’t ready to put an end to their evening just yet…Back at Reva’s car, Josh found her severance paperwork.
Dinah confronted Edmund about his phone call with Alonzo. Though Edmund assured Dinah that he hadn’t created the crisis over Will, Dinah retorted “It’s kind of noble how you’ve laid this thing out.” Meanwhile, outside the house Jeffrey cheered Cassie as she worried over Alonzo’s order. “You’re a good friend,” Cassie told him. Ouch! The pair went inside and Dinah left, claiming she had a craving, but not before telling Cassie she was a lucky girl to have “not one hero, but two” on her side. Dinah was right about one thing, Cass told the men, I’m lucky to have you both. Jeff left and Dinah was magically transported between the end of her scene and the beginning of the next to Olivia’s bar, where it was her turn to keep brother Bill company. “I love [Edmund] for who his is,” she told Bill. “I wish I could take comfort in that,” he sighed. She warned an arriving Jeffrey (Olivia doesn’t need that job at Spaulding. Her bar is jumping!) that Edmund would use the situation with Will to his advantage. Back at the farm, Cassie looked on as Edmund told Will a bedtime story.
Olivia deflected Bill’s questions about how she bruised her ankle (where Gus had grabbed her). And when Sebastian inquired about Gus’ whereabouts, Olivia pulled the old “I don’t know where he is. Not me. No way. I don’t know why you’d even ask me.” Bill told Olivia that she is a good person, and she responded that she had business to take care of but would meet him back at the bar later. Liv’s “business” involved trying to convince Gus (again!) to drop his investigation of Phillip’s murder. Bill arrived on the scene…

It was a beautiful day in Springfield and people were trying to get their loved ones to take the day off. Josh threw vacation brochures at Reva, who furiously scribbled notes before a meeting with a new producer. Josh took off for Company while Reva walked a few steps across the bar and sat down with the just-out-of-college producer. Reva, dressed in a leather jacket, peppered her pitches with hip slang. The producer fired her on Alan’s behalf, not for Reva’s poor use of slang, but that her show’s ratings weren’t up to par. Once alone, Reva gazed at herself in the mirror, while the producer’s comments echoed in her head….
Jonathan helped himself to refreshments at Lizzie’s party at Company. Lizzie casually mentioned that some guy had been there. Jonathan grabbed Lizzie’s arm and demanded details. Coop arrived for a letter for recommendation and taunted Lizzie that none of her guests had bothered to show up. Lizzie declared that they were just fashionably late. Jonathan got a call from Reva, who wanted to forget about being fired. He went to the bar and Reva twisted his arm so he’d have a drink with her. The two of them danced rather wildly (Reva looked pretty drunk). Jonathan asked Reva for a few bucks, and in her purse, he found the severance check. They fired you? Jonathan asked. Reva announced that it was wonderful news, but Jonathan didn’t buy it. She took off to smell the roses, but refused Jonathan’s company. “The day is young, so are you,” Reva said wistfully….
Outside of Company, Sebastian and Blake (whose hair looked fabulous) cackled that their plan with Alan was working. Coop came out and said that he was rounding up guests for Lizzie’s shindig. Blake sighed that since technically Lizzie was Ross’s niece, she should make an appearance. Furthermore, Lizzie being a Spaulding would only help their plan, she and Sebastian concluded. Inside, Blake confided in Josh that Spaulding was about to lose everything and advised him that Lewis Construction should get in on the deal. Sebastian cozied up to Lizzie and shared with her that he never had many guests at his parties, either. Just then, young adults began to arrive with Coop trailing behind them. Coop lied that he lost his keys, while Lizzie boasted how popular she was; people she didn’t even know wanted to hang out with her. A guy (who the closed captioning called “Freeloader”) thanked Coop for the tip. Lizzie flipped and kicked everyone out. Outside, Blake and Sebastian tried to convince Josh to join their team and give Alan what he deserved. In a deserted Company, Coop and Lizzie had a civil conversation. She was about to hand over his letter, but held back. She admitted that she would miss Coop, working with him that is….
Tammy lured Sandy to a picnic and fed him a ripe strawberry. She then dropped the bomb: This was all a set-up. One commercial break later, Tammy revealed that she needed Sandy’s help for a class assignment. She got out a video camera and began interviewing him about his childhood. Sandy only gave flippant and sarcastic answers, and when Tammy wasn’t looking, he removed the tape entirely. After a make-out session, Tammy wanted to get back to her assignment. She realized the tape was gone, found it and tried to get the interview going again. Sandy refused to talk about his life. Suddenly, they were at Liv’s bar. Tammy tried to cut through Sandy’s facade and get to the truth: Who was he? Sandy insisted that she already knew everything she needed to know. After Sandy left, Tammy asked Jonathan what trouble he was causing….
Edmund finished up a phone call with “Alonzo”, warning him to not call Cassie directly. Cassie fretted that different lawyers had given her various takes on Will’s adoption. Cassie embraced Edmund and thanked him for being there. Good ol’ Eddie gave the air around him a wicked stare — his plan is working! Dinah came back to the farm, fresh from a visit to San Cristobel. Cassie briefly explained that Will’s biological father wanted him back. Dinah wondered why the adoption wasn’t legal. Cassie said it was, but after an awkward glance at Edmund, explained that it was complicated. “This was a royal thing?” Dinah rhetorically asked. Ah, yes, a royal pain. Anyway, Cassie got Will up from his nap because he was having a nightmare. Edmund suggested that they draw a picture of the monster, then tear it up into a million pieces. While Will colored, Dinah admitted to Cassie that she was a good mother. Edmund yelled (for Cassie’s benefit) into the phone about the whole custody mess. Suddenly, Dinah kneeled over in pain, and Cassie and Edmund rushed to her. Oh, turned out she fainted. Cassie rushed off to call the doctor, but Dinah insisted that she was fine. Alonzo called and Edmund secretly put him on hold. He then ranted and raved that Alonzo needed to back off. Dinah listened in while a clueless Cassie took Will out to play. Once Cassie was out of earshot, Edmund switched back to the real Alonzo, apologized for keeping him on hold and politely explained that Cassie was coming around….
For the second time today, Reva eyed herself in the mirror, this time, the one in her car. She sweet-talked the car, telling it how dependable it was, how reliable, but too bad — it had too many miles. She took out a crow bar and bashed in the mirror. Joshua appeared behind her and asked what in the heck was going on.

Danny, Michelle and Father Ray held a small memorial for Tony. “You gave up your life for me,” Danny eulogized. Michelle lamented that Tony would still be alive if he hadn’t fallen in love with her. Michelle told Danny that she wanted to leave town (immediately!) with Robbie for a few weeks and he agreed. Marina arrived and urged Danny to follow Michelle to the airport to say goodbye. “I’m sending you into the arms of your one true love,” she told him. (There’s understanding and then there’s an application for sainthood and/or a mental institution.) Danny and Michelle shared an emotional farewell before she and Robbie boarded a plane for Africa to visit Ed.
Alan told Alexandra that Harley remembered the scent of jasmine perfume on the night of Phillip’s murder. What if the real killer is still on the loose? pondered Alex, before performing a sniff test on a startled Olivia. Alan told the women that he sent Gus to an overseas institute for medical treatment. Olivia gave Bill a gift: business info that would help her husband one-up Alan, while Alan had a mystery assignment for Sebastian. Bill spilled to Alex that Olivia wears jasmine-scented perfume…and the plot thickens. Meanwhile, Gus was not at a European clinic, but still trapped in the Boiler Room of Doom. His captor ordered him again to give up his investigation. Gus reached through a hole to grab his kidnapper…Olivia (seen by the audience, but not by Gus).
Harley told Mallet that she had been wrong about him and could trust him now. When he tried to send Harley back to her cell, she surprised him with a kiss. It was “almost everything I remembered,” he grinned. “Almost?” she wondered. Nice try, he told her, That wasn’t a real kiss…now what do you want? Harley admitted she needed to get out of prison to help Gus. Mallet reminded his ex that she’s in prison, not summer camp, and he can’t let her out to play PI. “The next time you try and seduce me, I just might let you,” he added, but agreed to deliver a note to Alan telling him that Gus is in trouble. Yet when Alan came to the prison, Mallet threw the letter away.
