INTERVIEW
GH’s Rory Gibson On Playing A Dad And ‘Incredible’ Co-Star Sofia Mattsson (Exclusive)
Michael and Sasha’s new baby girl, Daisy Gilmore Corinthos, was born in dramatic fashion last week on General Hospital when Sasha went into labor while testifying at Michael and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) divorce and custody hearing and gave birth in the courtroom! For GH newcomer Rory Gibson, the action-packed episodes gave him a greater appreciation for the actress who brings Sasha to life, Sofia Mattsson.
Up Close And Personal
According to the actor, the intense scenario “really did” give him the opportunity to get to know Mattsson better. “We’d had a couple of scenes prior to that,” he notes, “and I can’t speak highly enough of Sofia. I think she’s one of the most incredible people I’ve met. She’s a wonderful actress. We kind of hit it off immediately. She’s just so easy to be around and so easy to talk to. And she has such a willingness to lock in on the scene. So, we had already had a couple of scenes where we were trading glances here and there, like there was a vibe going on in the scenes for sure, but we had to really get to a very intimate place with each other in these [birthing] scenes because we had this back-and-forth while everything was going on — Michael’s concern over what was happening, me trying to reassure her. And we were like nose to nose while we’re having this conversation while the baby was coming. I just find it so easy to act with her and to work with her. She’s incredible and I hope we get a lot more [material together] down the line.”
Daisy’s birth brings the total of Michael’s offspring up to three, as the little girl joins big brother Wiley (whose biological mother is the late Nelle Benson) and older sister Amelia (Michael’s daughter with Willow), and Gibson says that as far as he’s concerned, the more the merrier! “I adore children,” the actor beams. “I cannot wait to have some of my own.”
And, he confides, he and his wife-to-be, longtime love Alicia Ruelas, are quite serious about making that happen. “Me and my fiancée, we’ve been talking about it for years and years, and we’re planning on kind of getting that train moving here pretty soon,” he reports. “But any time there’s a kid on set, it’s a great time to be there. I love getting to hold the babies, I love getting to hang out with the kiddos. It’s a great time. I just love kids!”
