General Hospital Recap: Trina And Kai Work To Prove Michael’s Guilt, Martin’s Trickery Revealed and More

Comments

On the January 7 episode of General Hospital, Drew (Cameron Mathison) refused to allow Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) to wrap up Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) case without putting him on the stand, Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) convinced Gio (Giovanni Mazza) to help in their sleuthing expedition, Tracy (Jane Elliot) felt betrayed by one of her housemates, Lulu (Alexa Havins) gave Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) a shoulder to unload on, and Kristina (Kate Mansi) came clean to Michael (Rory Gibson) about Jacinda (Paige Herschell), who got an offer from Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove). And that’s not all that happened, so keep on reading for all the details!

Case Study

At the police station, Nathan wondered if Dante really believed that Michael had framed Willow for shooting Drew. The acting commissioner confided that he didn’t know what to think anymore. Bringing the investigation’s folders into the interrogation room, Dante asked Nathan to go through his research, since he no longer trusted himself to be objective. Later, Nathan was looking over the files when Molly arrived at the PCPD, seeking an update on Justine’s behalf regarding the missing evidence. When Nathan explained that he was reviewing Michael’s phone records, Molly reminded the detective that the case was against Willow, not Michael, and the prosecution needed evidence against her to seal the deal.

In response, Nathan questioned whether she was speaking as the Assistant D.A. or someone close to Michael. Clarifying that she was only there to do a favor for Turner, Molly shared that she was relieved not to be on the case since it involved so many people she cared about. Before she left, Nathan handed her a file on the case and promised to meticulously review all the evidence to make sure justice was served.

A Snake Among Us

Piecing together that Alexis tricked Tracy into testifying that she’d seen Michael on Crestview Lane the night of Drew’s shooting because the defense didn’t have an actual witness, Lulu suggested to her former stepmother that someone had overheard Tracy and Michael’s conversation and took the info to Alexis. Since they’d only discussed it at home, Tracy suspected the mole was someone who lived at the mansion, and while she didn’t think Dante would turn on his brother again, she believed Chase might have tattled.

After Tracy left, Dante stopped by under the guise of checking on Charlotte. Knowing what happened at court that day and how much guilt Dante still had about Michael’s time in Pentonville as a teen, Lulu told him that he didn’t need to make excuses to come over; she’d always be there for him. As Dante unloaded that between everything with Michael, Gio, and Rocco, he didn’t trust his own instincts anymore, Lulu comforted her ex.

Karma Countdown

While waiting for Martin at the Port Charles Grill, Laura got annoyed when Ezra approached her. The councilman chided that she should be less prickly toward him since they both now worked for Sidwell before meandering to another table. Once Martin arrived, Laura told her brother that Kevin  hadmoved to Ireland with Ace — but he saw through her fabricated story about what a great experience it would be for both Ace and Kevin and demanded to know the real reason. Laura confided that she’d sent Ace away because it wasn’t safe for him to be in Port Charles with Valentin on the loose, since the toddler was the sole Cassadine heir. Martin replied that Valentin was only a threat to his enemies, but when Laura got all worked up about wanting to keep her grandson safe, he praised his sister for having made such a difficult decision.

Later, Tracy stopped at their table, wanting an update from Martin on her family heirlooms. He claimed that he tried to talk to Drew, but the congressman had been hard to nail down due to Willow’s trial. When Tracy again threatened to send him to prison, Martin promised that he’d do everything he could to get her belongings back, then kissed Laura good-bye and exited. Once he was gone, Laura told Tracy that she had every right to be angry with Martin after the stunt he pulled with Ronnie, but she hoped they could move past it one day. Meanwhile, outside the Grill, Martin flashed back to the day he eavesdropped on Michael and Tracy’s conversation from outside the Quartermaine kitchen, revealing that he is the one tipped off Alexis!

Across the restaurant, Jacinda met with Ezra. Ezra told her he wanted to give their relationship a real chance now that the truth about how they met had come out. Taken aback, Jacinda covered by stating that she didn’t think she was good for his political career, but Ezra thought her new job at Crimson said otherwise. She worried that she’d be fired since her boss didn’t want her there, and Michael couldn’t protect her if he ended up facing an attempted murder charge. When Ezra offered to use his connections to get her another job, Jacinda declined, announcing she was going to leave town and start over somewhere else. Thinking she was leaving town because of him, Ezra backpedaled from all his talk about the future and convinced Jacinda to stick around for a drink. But when he returned from the bar with a bottle of champagne, Jacinda was gone.

Cart Before Horse

Following their courtroom success, Alexis and Suzanne retreated to Miller & Davis, where Suzanne presented her boss with a good-luck cake, a tradition she’d shared with her previous bosses the night before closing arguments. But before they could dive in, Drew and Willow showed up, and he demanded Alexis call more witnesses. Alexis informed them that she planned to rest the defense’s case the next morning, with Elizabeth’s damning testimony and reasonable doubt for Willow fresh on the jury’s mind. Not satisfied, Drew instructed her to put him on the stand so he could tell the jury all about Michael’s anger and threats. When Alexis and Suzanne both advised against that, Willow agreed — but then proclaimed that she wanted to testify.

Listing all the reasons why Willow taking the stand was a horrible idea, Alexis huffed that Drew could do whatever he wanted to Michael once Willow was exonerated, but the two of them weren’t going to undo all her hard work. Getting in Alexis’s face, Drew ordered her to put him on the stand, or he’d deny her access to Scout. “You want to testify, go for it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” she cautioned.

As the Cains left the law office, Drew promised Willow that he’d make Michael look so guilty the jury would have no choice but to acquit her. And when the visitation hearing rolled around, he crowed, she’d be the only parent present because Michael would be behind bars. “Tomorrow is going to change everything,” Drew promised his wife. “You’ll see.”

Good Intentions

Angry over how things had gone in court, Michael stormed into the Quartermaine mansion, his behavior catching Gio off-guard. They chatted about how much the family enjoyed Gio’s Christmas performance, then Gio told Michael to let him know if there was anything he could do to help with the kids before heading out. Kristina arrived as Gio left, and she apologized to Michael for not giving him a heads-up that her mom would be going after him in court. She’d known Alexis’s defense hinged on blaming another suspect and figured it would be Michael. But she hadn’t known details until she looked through one of her mom’s files and saw an updated witness list that included Ezra and Jacinda, as well as an anonymous note stating that someone had seen him and Tracy on the street the night of the shooting. Since she couldn’t tip him off, Kristina shared, she’d given Jacinda money to leave town, hoping that if she couldn’t corroborate Ezra’s claim, Michael’s alibi would still be intact.

Michael then told his sister that Jacinda went to the courthouse to warn him that something was about to happen, but was called to the stand before she could elaborate. Although he didn’t understand why Jacinda never told him she’d been with Boyle, Michael felt it was a moot point after the disastrous day in court. Still, he confided, he hoped Jacinda hadn’t skipped town so they could sort things out.

 Phone A Friend

At Trina’s apartment, she and Kai argued over whether to come forward with their suspicion that Michael shot Drew. Trina was adamant that they stay out of it, not wanting to betray Josslyn, while Kai contended that if they stayed quiet, an innocent woman might go to prison. So they compromised: If they could figure out whether Michael’s ringtone for Wiley actually was “Twinkle, Twinkle,” they’d decide what to do with the info together.

Thinking that Gio might be able to help them, Trina invited him over. Finding their vague questions about Michael’s ringtone for Wiley strange, Gio demanded to know what they were after before agreeing, since he didn’t feel right involving his little cousin. Although they refused to give details, Kai swore that what they were doing was to help clear Wiley’s mother, and by playing their mutual we’ve-both-had-secrets-kept-from-us card, Trina eventually convinced Gio to orchestrate a phone call between Michael and his son.
