General Hospital Recap: Sonny Realizes He’s Been Wrongly Implicated, Danny and Rocco Spar
On General Hospital on September 29, Dante’s (Dominic Zamprogna) suspicions about his father were seemingly confirmed as Sonny (Maurice Benard) realized he’d been wrongly implicated in the Pentonville attack. Meanwhile, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Rocco (Finn Carr) blamed each other for Charlotte’s (Bluesy Burke) troubles as Jason (Steve Burton) shared his worries with Carly (Laura Wright), Monet (Blythe Howard) offered her legal services to Curtis (Donnell Turner), Michael (Rory Gibson) made a mysterious phone call, and more. Fact-Finding Mission
Dante was discussing his suspicion with Elizabeth that his father was behind the assault when Ric arrived at the hospital to surprise his girlfriend. Upon learning about Curtis and Sidwell’s attack, Ric rushed over to his brother’s house.
Justine told Joe she wanted evidence to back up Curtis’s allegation that Sonny was behind the attack before pursuing an arrest warrant. She thought back on Sonny promising that he wouldn’t go after Sidwell.
Dante updated Justine that Sidwell might not make it through surgery, which would update the criminal charges from egregious assault to murder. She informed Dante that according to Curtis, the assailants acted on Sonny’s orders. When Justine floated a theory that one of Sidwell’s other enemies might be pinning the attack on Sonny, Dante wondered if she wanted his father to be innocent. Justine contended she didn’t want anyone charged until they had all the facts.
State of Confusion
Rocco asked Sonny to make peace with Drew so Drew wouldn’t ban him and Scout from seeing each other. Sonny told his grandson that the situation between him and Drew would probably get worse over a bitter business deal and warned Rocco to prepare for the possibility of seeing Scout less often.
Ric barged in and privately demanded to know if Sonny had used Vito to order the assault, but Sonny denied it. When Joe arrived to question Sonny, Ric tried to stonewall the detective, who revealed that, according to Curtis, the assailants had been sent by Sonny.
After Joe left, Sonny told Ric that he’d sent Vito to meet with one of his Pentonville insiders, Sully. With his business now legit, Sonny wanted Sully to protect the other inmate, knowing everyone would blame him if anything happened to Sidwell. Ric wondered if Sully purposely disobeyed the order, but Sonny was adamant that Sully was loyal and he’d been very clear with Vito. Realizing he’d been implicated in an attack he didn’t order, Sonny worried that the people he cared about were going to think he lied about getting out of the mob.
Roll the Tape
Back at G.H., Monet waltzed into Curtis’s room, claiming to be his lawyer. Introducing herself as a new attorney at Miller & Davis (but not as Jordan’s sister), Monet said she was familiar with his case and offered to review it for the possibility of an appeal. Just as Curtis asked why Monet was so interested, Elizabeth entered and instructed the stranger to leave so her patient could rest. Later, Monet gave her business card to Elizabeth to give to Curtis.
Returning to the hospital, Joe reported to Justine and Dante that he’d been unable to question Sonny about the attacks but did get the video footage from the visiting room at Pentonville. As they viewed the video, Dante recognized a visitor and inmate — Vito and Sully — as people who work for his father, leaving Justine dumbfounded.
Passing Blame
While comforting Danny after Charlotte’s departure, Jason told his angry son that time apart from Charlotte was a good idea after the extreme risks the two of them had been taking lately. Jason said the best way for Danny to be a good friend was to respect her parents’ decision and say no if Charlotte asked him to help her escape from her boarding school. Danny didn’t agree with his father.
Later, Danny called Rocco to the boathouse and asked him to convince Lulu to bring Charlotte home, blaming Rocco for getting her in trouble in the first place. Rocco shouted back that Danny had egged Charlotte on until she’d taken on his problems. “If you’re looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror,” Rocco spat to a seething Danny.
Wine O’Clock
Carly was saved from having to answer whether she was in love with Valentin when Britt arrived at Lucas’s apartment, so she took the excuse to leave. Over a bottle of cheap champagne she’d brought as a housewarming gift, Britt vented to Lucas about her breakup with Jason and vowed that she was done with relationships.
At Carly’s house, Jason filled her in on his conversation with Danny. The longtime friends recognized similarities between Danny and Charlotte’s friendship and their own history. Worried that his actions had more of an impact on Danny than his words, Jason doubted his son would be able to stay out of trouble just because Charlotte was no longer in town.
The Strength in Scars
When Michael suggested Jordan fly to Paris to close a deal, she confided that she was too self-conscious to meet with their partners face to face. She opened up about how Monet’s jabs about her scars fed into her insecurities. An empathetic Michael knew what it was like to deal with physical and emotional scars, and Jordan admired the reconstructive surgery Michael had done at the Baden-Baden clinic.
Jordan rushed off to G.H. after receiving a call from Elizabeth about Curtis’s assault. Curtis informed her that Sonny was responsible for the attack on him and Sidwell. Meanwhile, Michael made a phone call and told the other person that he’d been trying to get ahold of Dr. Muller.
