General Hospital Recap: Sonny Puts Ava on Notice as Serena Targets Michael for Seduction
Tensions were high on the Wednesday, August 5, episode of General Hospital when Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) faced off in court and Portia (Brook Kerr) took the witness stand. Elsewhere in town, Lucy (Lynn Herring) concocted a plot for Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael (Rory Gibson), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) made a request of Jacinda (Paige Herschell), Tracy (Jane Elliot) gave Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) food for thought, and Sonny (Maurice Benard) had a stern warning for Ava (Maura West). Zipped Lips
Tracy wanted to take Brook Lynn to Manhattan so she’d be out of town during Curtis’s trial, but Brook Lynn didn’t want to leave Phoebe. Overwhelmed with guilt, Brook Lynn considered coming clean about what she believed to be her part in the accident, hoping that might lead to peace between Curtis and Isaiah. Tracy made Brook Lynn realize all that she’d stood to lose by speaking up. Knowing that Chase might never forgive her for keeping the secret, Brook Lynn was resolved to stay quiet to save her marriage and protect her family.
The Scarlet Letter
Before Curtis’s assault trial began, Martin attempted to persuade Molly to agree to a plea bargain that didn’t include jail time, but Molly held firm. Out in the courtroom hallway, Lucas intervened when Portia, Isaiah, Curtis, and Jordan had a heated run-in. Joe complimented Lucas on how he’d defused the situation, and when they realized they were both there to testify, Joe asked whether Lucas would be impartial, given that Portia and Isaiah were his colleagues.
In the courtroom, Molly cautioned Isaiah that Curtis’ attorney would try to bait him on the stand, and it was vital to their case that he didn’t lose his cool. Jordan tried to convince Portia to tell the truth for Desmond’s sake and testify that the assault was merely a domestic situation, but Portia refused.
During her opening statement, Molly told the jury that the car accident was a red herring, and the punch that caused Isaiah’s injury was illegal. When Martin addressed the jury, he stated that Curtis was provoked and Isaiah was at fault for his own injury in the domestic altercation.
Next, Lucas testified without issue. When Joe took the stand, Martin tried to get him to admit that he may have jumped the gun in arresting Curtis rather than deescalating a domestic situation. Later, Lucas checked in with Joe out in the hallway. When Lucas said he didn’t think the arrest was unnecessary, Joe replied that he hoped everyone involved got justice.
When it was Portia’s turn to take the stand, she testified that before the punch, Curtis had goaded Isaiah as Isaiah was trying to leave. Portia also stated that Isaiah was unable to perform a specialized procedure that only a handful of surgeons could do as a result of his injury. On cross-examination, Martin asked Portia how long she was married to his client before she started sleeping with the alleged victim.
Like Mother, Like Daughter
At Bobbie’s, Lucy and her daughter schemed for Serena to seduce Michael so they could regain the Deception shares he’d bought from Maxie. When Lucy asked if Serena was comfortable with the plan, Serena replied that she saw it as them evening things up with the Quartermaines.
Later, Lucy confided in Felicia about her ulterior motive in asking her daughter to visit. Felicia pointed out that Serena had made her own choice and encouraged Lucy to trust in that. Lucy gushed that Serena and Michael might be a perfect match — and her daughter could even wear her red wedding dress if she one day married Alan’s grandson.
Slip And Fall
Michael and Jacinda ran into Willow and Wiley at the Metro Court pool. While the boys swam, Willow asked Jacinda to stay away from the children, but Jacinda brushed her off. Later, Jack tracked down Willow at the pool, and when Michael and Jacinda spied them speaking, Michael worried that whatever his ex and the WSB chief were talking about would be bad news for him.
Jack told Willow it was a bad idea to pressure the PCPD to reopen the case against Michael for Drew’s shooting. Annoyed that her mother had relayed that info to Jack, Willow declared she was willing to take the risk of Anna uncovering the camera footage if it meant more time with her children.
Decked out in a skimpy bikini, Serena arrived at the pool and watched as Michael said goodbye to Wiley. Before leaving, Willow told Michael to ask Jacinda what they’d spoken about, curious to know what Jacinda relayed to him. Setting her sights on her target, Serena began stalking across the pool deck to flirt with Michael but slipped on a puddle and landed squarely in Jack’s lap!
Pointing the Finger
Sonny summoned Ava to his house and demanded to know if she was involved in Ethan’s disappearance. Ava insisted she had no idea why Ethan ditched her or where he’d gone but relayed that he’d called her from a burner phone to tell her that he wasn’t coming back. Ava then questioned if Ethan took off because Sonny asked him to kill Drew (to keep Drew away from Michael).
Denying the accusation, Sonny wondered if Ava spoke negatively about him in front of Avery and warned Ava not to forget that there were consequences if anyone came after his family or anyone close to him. “And that includes you or Drew,” he noted.
