General Hospital Recap: Jason Tries to Save Joss and Britt, Valentin Plays Hardball, Drew Stars to Wake Up!

Comments

A dramatic new week of General Hospital kicked off on Monday, September 8. Anna (Finola Hughes), Chase (Josh Swickard) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) zeroed in on the persons of interest in Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting as the victim began to stir, Brennan (Chris McKenna) made contact with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Jason (Steve Burton) worked to save Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and laid eyes on Josslyn (Eden McCoy) at the Five Poppies and more! Here’s everything that went down.

Scout and About

At the hospital, Alexis, Willow and Elizabeth were all frantic to find Scout, who had gone missing from camp again. The women were relieved when Lulu walked up with Charlotte and announced, “Scout’s safe.” Charlotte, a counselor in training at Lila’s kids, explained that when Scout found out about Drew’s shooting, she wanted to be with her family but didn’t want to get Danny in trouble — so Charlotte drove her somewhere.

At Alexis’s, Kristina tried not to give away her anxiety when Molly lamented that Ric wasn’t returning her calls. Cody called Molly, signaling that it was an emergency. Molly raced to the stables, where Cody presented her with Scout. Molly embraced the little girl and beamed gratefully at Cody. After Molly assured Scout that the doctors were taking good care of her daddy, she called Alexis with news of Scout’s whereabouts. Alexis insisted on going there with Willow, “restraining order be damned.”

Scout opened up to Molly about how much she missed her family. With back-up from Cody, Molly gingerly explained the restraining order to Scout. “Why would my dad do that?” the child exclaimed, saying that what was best for her was getting to see Rocco and Danny and Alexis and Kristina and Molly. Alexis and Willow entered, and Scout ran into her grandmother’s arms.

Alexis affectionately told Scout she was just like her mom (“She would never stay put when she wanted to be someplace else, either”). Scout apologized for scaring her. Willow told Scout that she would be staying with her for a while at Elizabeth’s house. Scout wasn’t thrilled, but agreed when Alexis said they would video chat every day.

Once the group dispersed, Molly thanked Cody for his help with her niece, saying that he’d saved the day. Cody wanted to know if this meant she would actually pick up when he called now . Molly didn’t think it was a good idea for him to call her, then wondered how he could be so good with Scout but also think it was okay to take money to seduce Ava. She told Cody he could call her in an emergency, but other than that, she felt they should go their separate ways. A bummed Cody watched her leave.

Growing Pains

Charlotte told Lulu that she wasn’t sorry for taking Scout out of camp, noting that she knows how it feels to be separated from a parent. Lulu was proud of Charlotte for doing what she thought was best, but noted that her daughter needed to learn to consider the consequences of her actions. Lulu opined that being on the run with Valentin had forced Charlotte to be too responsible at her young age and she reminded her daughter that she had other people in her life she could rely on now. Charlotte appreciated that and took her lumps when Lulu took her car keys and grounded her for a month as punishment. “If that’s the price of helping Scout? Worth it,” professed Charlotte. Lulu warmly recognized the Spencer-ness of her daughter’s actions, but cautioned her that if she didn’t learn to look before she leaps, she could get hurt.

The Usual Suspects

In her office, Anna briefed Dante and Chase, telling them that Mac was spearheading the possible homicide investigation into Judge Heran’s death while she focused on Drew’s shooting. Anna noted that there was a “cavalcade of suspects” as well as some potential conflicts of interest. Chase was confident he would work the case “no matter where it leads,” and Dante echoed the sentiment. The men assured Anna they would let her know if, in the future, they felt the need to recuse themselves.

Anna pointed out that Michael and Willow, to whom they were both connected, were central figures in the investigation. They began to review the timeline of the crime and agreed that there was a 40-minute window in which the shooting could have occurred. They discussed the umbrella found at the scene (which had only Drew’s fingerprints on it) as well as the bat, which forensics was testing.

In terms of persons of interest, Chase noted that he had yet to speak to Michael, despite living under the same roof as him. “That means he’s avoiding you,” concluded Anna. Dante looked distressed.

Adding photos of Michael and Willow as persons of interest to a bulletin board documenting the investigation, Anna went over the timing of Willow’s sudden departure from the hospital in the middle of her shift. She had returned to the hospital wet from the rain, and claimed she’d taken a walk after hearing the upsetting news about Judge Heran. Nina had backed up Willow’s story, but Dante pointed out that Nina had incentive to protect her daughter. Anna added Nina’s photo next to Michael and Willow’s.

Dante shared that Alexis hadn’t wanted to answer questions without an attorney present and would be coming in later with Diane. Dante added that he’d gotten the feeling Alexis was hiding something. Her picture got added to the bulletin board. Dante and Anna agreed that Sonny wasn’t a strong suspect, as the shooting didn’t appear to be a professional hit.

Chase mentioned Curtis as a viable subject. Dante then brought up the person they’d found at the scene of the crime — Tracy. The trio discussed the possibility that Tracy shot Drew in cold blood, then called 911 to cover her tracks. Anna didn’t buy that Tracy was the shooter, but flagged her as a problematic first witness because Anna could see her covering for the person who did.

Anna wanted to prioritize speaking with Michael and Alexis so they could either clear their names or upgrade them to suspects. Liz then called Anna to inform her that Drew was waking up!

Missing Person

Ava blew into Alexis’s and showed Kristina how many missed calls and unanswered texts had stacked up on Ric’s phone, insisting that they needed to figure out a way to explain his absence before people got suspicious. They decided to have Alexis send an email to Ric’s assistant, telling her to push back his court appearances and sending her on a paid vacation. Needing access to Ric’s phone, Ava chirped, “Time for another dose of sleeping pills!”

Soon, the women emerged from the basement, triumphant as they’d gotten a sedated Ric to unlock his phone by fingerprint. Kristina changed the password to 666666. Ava had the idea to pretend that Ric had gone on a “digital detox” retreat, and Kristina began composing an email to Molly from Ric’s account saying as much.

Alexis returned home while Ava and Kristina were workshopping just how “nauseating” the fake email from Ric to Liz should be. They asked Alexis for her editorial input. Alexis said they had bigger problems: Willow, who was going to hound Ric until she tracked him down in order to ensure that her bid to regain custody of her kids kept moving forward. Ava was struck with an idea.

Dr. Doom

In Croatia, Britt was grateful when Jason burst into her lab. However, she explained that she couldn’t flee the premises with him because her ankle monitor was rigged with explosives. Jason assured Britt that he had experience defusing bombs. “I’m gonna get you outta here,” he vowed.

Jason examined the ankle monitor more closely, then began to scour the lab as Britt babbled about how right he had been about her being in way over her head with Pascal and his boss. “I’m here for research, not murder!” she exclaimed. Britt mentioned finding “Josslyn and this guy tied up,” and Jason was flabbergasted. “Josslyn Jacks is here and she’s in serious trouble,” Britt confirmed.

Jason reeled as Britt explained that Joss was a WSB agent. He grabbed Britt’s keycard and bolted from the lab. Britt was outraged that he’d left her in peril to rescue Joss. Before long, Pascal entered and told Britt he had bad news — the site was compromised, so the operation was moving to a new location. “You are not coming with it,” purred Pascal. Because of her disruptive behavior, he revealed, he had convinced their boss that she was more trouble than she was worth. “I have set your ankle monitor to blow you to tiny pieces in one hour,” smirked Pascal. Her pleas to be spared fell on deaf ears.

How to Save a Life

On the phone in his office, Brennan barked out orders, frantic to save Josslyn and Vaughn while he still could. He got another call and commanded the person on the line to keep the pressure on Colette while he attacked things “from a different angle.”

Soon, Brennan was on a video call with Valentin from Steinmauer. “You’re lucky you caught me home,” Valentin wisecracked from his cell. Brennan held up a photo of Colette and asked Valentin what he knew about a double agent named Moreau. Valentin was cagey, asking what was in it for him. After Brennan told him that Colette was the one who had tried to shoot him dead in front of Charlotte, Valentin admitted he’d crossed paths with the woman circa 2015-16 — when she was working for Cesar Faison.

Brennan wanted more current information, noting that Faison had been dead for some time and his brain was in a jar. Valentin reminded Brennan that Faison’s organization lives on. Valentin demanded “significant concessions” before he gave up the name of Faison’s successor to Brennan. Brennan shot down Val’s request to be transferred to an American supermax, noting he didn’t have the influence as a lowly bureau chief to arrange for that, and asked Valentin what else he wanted. “I want to see my daughter,” Valentin declared. “In person.”

Silent Treatment

In Croatia, captives Joss and Vaughan reeled from Pascal informing them that Professor Dalton had made great strides in cold fusion and Joss and Vaughn were going to be used as test subjects for a possible way to contain radiation to “acceptable levels.” Pascal was unmoved when Vaughn reminded him that if he did what he was proposing to do, he would be guilty of war crimes. “Who’s going to report me?” Pascal taunted. A guard arrived to inform Pascal that he’d lost track of “John Moore” (Jason’s alias), so Pascal left to deal with the matter.

Joss and Vaughn took advantage of his absence by trying to get under the guard’s skin with their talk of WSB backup arriving and raiding the place. “Is this job worth your life?” Joss asked the guard, trying to tempt him into helping them escape. Another guard came in and chastised him for talking to the prisoners.

Meanwhile, Jason burst into the room where Joss and Vaughn were being held and shot one of the guards, then began fighting with the other. When Joss turned her head and laid eyes on Jason, she was shocked. While Jason and the guard tussled, Vaughn and Joss used a knife that had fallen nearby to try to undo their restraints. The guard got the upper hand on Jason and began to choke him.
