General Hospital Recap: Jason Leaves Port Charles, Marco Dies and Rocco Confesses!
The Wednesday, March 25, episode of General Hospital culminated in one character’s shocking death and the exit of a fan favorite! While Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) survived his surgery, Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) was unable to save Marco (Adrian Anchondo), leading to emotional good-byes from Lucas (Van Hansis) and Jenz (Carlo Rota); Rocco (Finn Carr) confided in Lulu (Alexa Havins) that he’d been responsible for shooting the WSB agent; news of Jason’s (Steve Burton) arrest spread throughout Port Charles; Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) raced to get to Jason before he was extradited by the WSB; and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) helped Carly (Laura Wright) brainstorm a plan to clear her best friend. Keep on reading for the full rundown.
Losing Hope
As Alexis frantically tried to track down a missing Danny, Charlotte brought the teen to Carly’s house, thinking that Valentin could help Jason escape town. Valentin asked why the WSB had issued the arrest warrant for Jason, and Danny said that no one seemed to know. Then, finally answering his grandmother’s call, Danny learned that Jason had been arrested for shooting WSB Director Cullum. After begging Alexis to help his father, Danny relayed the news to Carly, Valentin and Charlotte. Valentin agreed with Carly’s reasoning that Jason if Jason shot Cullum, he must have had no other choice. Charlotte tried to reassure Danny that at least his dad wasn’t on the run and, with any luck, he’d be home soon, but Valentin and Carly shared a look, knowing that wasn’t a likely option. Carly and Valentin suggested that Danny head home, but instead, Danny had Charlotte take him to the PCPD to see his father.
Carly was insistent on trying to see Jason, but Valentin talked her out of it, explaining how tight security would be since Jason was accused of shooting a WSB agent. Confident that Jason would ultimately be found guilty and taken to Switzerland, Valentin offered to use his connections to help Jason escape during transit and go on the run. In the meantime, he added, that gave them time to prove that Cullum was a double agent.

Done Deal
At the PCPD, Dante warned Jason that the charges that went along with shooting a high-ranking WSB official in the back weren’t like the other times he’d been arrested, and Nathan advised Jason to make his next decision carefully because it would determine whether he spent the rest of his life in prison. Frustrated when Jason still wouldn’t talk, Dante stalked out to confer with Justine. While they were alone, Nathan signaled to Jason that he’d taken care of the situation with Danny, then slipped back into the role of questioning detective.
As Justine and Dante watched from the window, she wondered why Jason didn’t immediately flee. Dante suggested it might have something to do with Britt, since she’d been unconscious at the scene, and Justine declared that they needed to get Dr. Westbourne’s statement immediately. They sent Nathan to G.H. to talk to his sister, warning Det. West to do everything by the book. Next, Alexis showed up at the station, demanding to see her client. Jason assumed Diane had sent her, but she filled him in on what happened when she and Danny found Marco post-stabbing, and shared that Danny had begged her to help his father.

Touch-And-Go
Over at Wyndemere, Ava regaled Jenz with the tale of the time she tumbled off the Wyndemere parapet, and their flirty banter led to them kissing. They were interrupted by Chase, who delivered the grave news that Marco had been the victim of a stabbing. Chase asked if Sidwell knew of anyone who would want to hurt his son.
Meanwhile, Cullum’s blood pressure dropped during surgery, but Lucas was able to remove the bullet and save the WSB director’s life. At the same time, Isaiah and Elizabeth operated on Marco in the ER trauma room and closed most of his multiple stab wounds. Unfortunately, a lacerated blood vessel was causing Marco to bleed internally.
In another area of the ER, a panicked Britt demanded updates on Marco and Cullum from Portia, shouting that her life depended on it. While Portia went to get news on the patients, Britt flashed back to Jason informing her that she had to tell the police he’d been the one to shoot Cullum. Portia then returned to report that Marco was still in surgery and Cullum was in critical, but stable, condition, and Britt moaned that the WSB director was still alive. Nathan then arrived to question his sister. Britt explained that Agent Cullum had been harassing her and confirmed Nathan’s assumption that it was related to her time in Croatia. Britt added that when she tried to leave, she fell and hit her head and briefly lost consciousness. Nathan informed her that Cullum had been shot and asked if his sister had seen who did it, so Britt bellowed that Jason did it to protect her and demanded that Nathan take her to see him.

Sweet Sorrow
Following Cullum’s surgery, Lucas updated Jack and two other WSB agents about the director, then tried to reach Marco again. He left his boyfriend a message that something had gone wrong with Jason and Britt’s plan and to prepare for blowback. Next, Lucas encountered a solemn Elizabeth, who shared the sad news that Marco had died. She brought a gutted Lucas to say good-bye to Marco, and the doctor blamed himself for his boyfriend’s death.
Portia comforted Isaiah over the loss of his patient. Then, when Ava and Jenz arrived, Isaiah had to break the news to Marco’s father, and a devastated Sidwell asked if Dr. Gannon had botched the surgery on purpose as revenge. Jenz sobbed as he said a final farewell to his son and promised that he’d make Sonny pay for both Natalia’s death and now, Marco’s. Ava found Lucas outside the hospital. At first, he refused to be comforted, not wanting to emotionally accept that Marco’s death was real, but then he broke down in his aunt’s arms.

Mama Bear Mode
Rocco opened up to Lulu about how he had followed Britt to the pier. Through tears, Rocco recounted how he saw Britt talking with Lucas, then fighting with Agent Cullum, the tussle between Jason and Cullum, how he’d ultimately shot the WSB agent to protect Jason, and that Nathan and Jason had stepped up to cover for him. When Lulu verified that no one else had seen him, Rocco confirmed that neither Cullum nor Britt had known he was there. Lulu made her son promise that he’d never tell anyone he’d been there, then vowed that she’d take care of everything. Later, Lulu took Rocco to get checked out at G.H., where they fibbed to Elizabeth that he’d cut his hand using a knife in the kitchen.

Race Against Time
Back at the PCPD, just as Justine told Dante she wanted an iron-clad case for her prosecution of Jason, Jack and the two other WSB agents arrived and declared that the bureau was taking custody of Jason and extraditing the prisoner immediately. One of the agents shackled Jason in the interrogation room, and Jack relayed that the order had come directly from the top, adding that the WSB had no obligation to tell Jason where he was being taken. Then, Jack told Jason that Cullum made it through surgery but was still in critical condition, and he had better hope the director pulled through. Jack also offered to call Carly and Danny so Jason could say good-bye, but Jason insisted it was better that they didn’t see him this way.
Meanwhile, Alexis argued with the other WSB agent that the arrest violated Jason’s human rights, and Justine contended that her office had the right to detain the suspect, but the agent declared that the WSB superseded local jurisdiction. The agent refused to divulge where Jason was being taken. As he was led out of the PCPD by the officers, Jason told Alexis he’d named her as Danny’s legal guardian, and she promised to fight the charges. Dante followed the group outside to supervise the transfer, and Justine snapped at Jack that Jason had the right to be tried in Port Charles. When Brennan replied that she’d been outranked, Justine snipped, “We’ll see about that,” and stalked off. Jack informed a shocked Alexis that Jason would be long gone before Justine ever got a judge on the phone, and Danny would never see his father again.

Outside the station, Dante warned the WSB agents that if something went wrong with the transfer, they’d be responsible. Britt and Nathan then showed up, and she begged Dante to stop the WSB from extraditing Jason, but he sighed that his hands were tied. Then, she and Jason tearfully declared their love for one another. Just before the agents closed the door to the van, Danny and Charlotte got to the parking lot. Danny shared a tearful good-bye with his father, and Dante and Nathan held him back as the van drove away.
