General Hospital Recap: Curtis Offers Drew A Deal, Michael Is Busted, Portia Levels With Isaiah And More

Comments

As news of Curtis’s (Donnell Turner) arrest traveled around town on the December 11 episode of General Hospital, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was optimistic that she’d be exonerated, the jailbird had a tempting proposal for  Drew (Cameron Mathison), and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey) found new evidence… but about whom? Meanwhile, Michael (Rory Gibson) and Jacinda (Paige Herschell) grew closer, Portia (Brook Kerr) worried she might lose the baby, and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) got some good news from the last person she expected to be on her side. Get all the details below.

A (Baby) Bump In The Road

At the hospital, Isaiah waited with Portia in an examination room for a doctor, even though her pain had subsided. When Britt entered, Portia begged the fallen doctor to examine her since there were no other OB/GYNs available. After snarking with Isaiah about her lack of a medical license, Britt instructed him to leave the room. As Isaiah stood in the hallway, flashing back to the times he’d slept with Portia, the mother-to-be worried that she might be miscarrying. Britt then asked Isaiah to bring up Dr. Jones from the ER. When Lucas got to the exam room, he questioned why Britt was treating Portia, but agreed to help them out by ordering tests since Britt was not authorized to do so. Britt reassured the patient that she didn’t think Portia was going to lose the baby, and said that the tests were just to make sure. She suspected stress and dehydration had caused the cramps and urged Portia to take a few days of bed rest and pay more attention to her health.

Going back into the hallway, Britt informed Isaiah that Portia was resting. Walking up to join them, Lucas shared that the tests had been ordered, then pulled Britt around the corner to speak privately. Acknowledging that she’d broken hospital policy, Britt maintained that she’d deal with HR because she couldn’t ignore Portia’s terrified plea for help. But instead of lecturing her, Lucas offered to write Britt another letter of recommendation to get her license reinstated, having been impressed by her instincts with both Ned and Portia.

Meanwhile, Isaiah entered Portia’s room and demanded to know if the baby was his. She responded honestly, telling him that either he or Curtis could be the father, and said she hadn’t yet announced her pregnancy because she was waiting to get a paternity test. Curtis knew about the baby as well, Portia added, because Jordan had figured it out and told him. She also told Isaiah that since Curtis didn’t know about the affair and assumed the baby was his, no one else had to know about it, either, so Isaiah’s professional reputation would remain intact.

Far from thrilled with that response, Isaiah wondered if Portia would have ever even told him about the baby, even if the paternity test proved it was his child. Having learned her lesson with Trina years ago, Portia promised to let him know if he was the father, but she wasn’t expecting anything of him since they weren’t official. They agreed to pause the conversation about his potential involvement until the results were in, and Portia said that she’d let him know when the test was scheduled. She grabbed his hand as Isaiah exited the room, and once out in the hallway, Isaiah smiled at the possibility of being a dad. Cradling her belly, Portia vowed to her unborn child that everything would be okay.

Health Check

Kristina was at G.H. for an allergy shot appointment when Molly arrived to offer support, knowing her sister wasn’t a fan of needles. While they waited, Kristina brought up the debacle with Cody at the Brown Dog, but Molly deflected by telling her sister about the new romance novel she’s been writing. Teasingly, Kristina wondered who had inspired the cowboy character, and Molly allowed that there was a chance Cody had inspired her hero. Later, after Kristina got her allergy shot, she offered to be an impartial reader of Molly’s book, but Molly joked that she’d rather ask their mom.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth complained about her dry and itchy eyes to Felicia, who made the nurse an appointment for her with one of the hospital’s ophthalmologists. Liz reported back that she’d been diagnosed with a common disease called Demodex blepharitis, caused by an overabundance of eyelid mites, which was easily treated with eye drops.

Cell Shock

Dante called Jordan to the PCPD to get her signature on the transcript of her conversation with Curtis and Nathan. She was surprised to learn that Curtis had been arrested for filing a false statement and obstruction of justice charges, and when Dante mentioned the video footage of Selina Wu at The Savoy, Jordan mused that the mobster had perhaps reached out to Curtis when she got back to town. Dante then shared that the working theory was that Curtis had reached out to Selina to take care of “something or someone,” and Jordan questioned if he really believed Curtis was guilty… or if the PCPD was pursuing that angle because the case against Willow was questionable and he didn’t want Michael to be guilty. Remaining on the defensive as Dante argued that he’d removed himself from the investigation because of bias and that the department was just following the evidence, Jordan alleged the evidence was a reach and questioned if they planned to drop the charges against Willow, but eventually signed the transcript.

Having been told by Curtis’s lawyer about his arrest, Trina and Kai dropped in to visit him in his PCPD holding cell, and he revealed that he’d lied in his statement about the night Drew was shot. Trina assumed he’d been alone with Jordan at The Savoy, but Curtis noted it didn’t make sense to be with her at the club, then meet with her at the Brown Dog after. Promising his daughter that he never cheated on Portia, Curtis insisted he and Jordan were still just friends at the time of the shooting. When Trina then questioned why he’d lied to the cops, Curtis revealed that there was footage of Selina Wu at the club that night. He’d met with her because he thought he could work with her again, Curtis added, but realized the cost was too high. Trina didn’t understand why he lied about the meeting to begin with, if it was no big deal, and Curtis lied that Selina didn’t want anyone to know she’d been back in town, and he didn’t think it was relevant to the case.

Next, Jordan showed up and, not happy to see her father’s on-again love interest, Trina left with Kai. Curtis apologized to Jordan for getting her involved in his mess and asked for her help in mitigating the situation, so he didn’t end up charged with attempted murder.

A New Hope

At Alexis’s house, Nina crowed that the charges against Willow were about to be dropped since someone else had been arrested. A gloating Drew proclaimed that Michael was finally getting what he deserved, and Willow would get her kids back now that his nephew had been arrested. As Willow hugged her husband in relief, Nina burst their bubble to share that she’d been with Curtis in his office when her brother showed up to arrest him, not Michael. She wasn’t sure what the charges were, but since J and Chase were heading up the investigation into Drew’s shooting, it must be related.

While Suzanne called a source she had at the PCPD for info, Alexis warned Willow not to get her hopes up that the charges against her were going to be dropped just yet. Convinced they were investigating the wrong person, Drew declared that Curtis didn’t hate him enough to shoot him, and Nina, not wanting Willow to go through a trial for a crime she didn’t commit, contended that Curtis’s arrest had to help the reasonable doubt argument. Agreeing that was a potential outcome, Alexis cautioned them that the evidence against Willow wouldn’t just go away, and the judge still might want to proceed with the trial. Nina raged that if the PCPD had any evidence against Curtis, then Willow should no longer be a suspect.

While Alexis and Drew looked at something on her computer, Nina reassured her daughter that Curtis being charged would change everything with the visitation hearing. Twisting her wedding rings, Willow agreed. When Nina wondered what Willow was going to do about Drew, Willow replied that she couldn’t talk about it right then. Across the room, Drew got a call from Jordan, who said she had a message to relay to him.

Next, Alexis told the others that Suzanne found out from her contact at the DA’s office what the charges were against Curtis — and that new search warrants were issued for his bank records and video footage. Suzanne added that the rumor in the courthouse was that Selina Wu was in some of the footage, which confused Alexis. Alarmed at the mention of Selina’s name, Drew left to get on a phone call, and Nina exited as well. Once it was just Willow and Suzanne, Alexis told her client that Selina’s involvement would add a new angle to the case, since it would change from a crime of passion to a premeditated hit. Again imploring Willow not to get her hopes up, Alexis added that if the PCPD followed through with their charges of attempted murder against Curtis, they’d have to drop the charges against her.

The Makeout Artists

Arriving at Curtis’s office, Michael was annoyed to find the PCPD searching Aurora Media. Nathan filled him in on Curtis’s arrest. Michael then went upstairs to the Crimson offices, where he found Jacinda trying on a gown in Nina’s office since the boss had taken the day off. Bringing her up to speed on what was happening in the Aurora offices, Michael confided that Curtis had been charged with obstruction of justice, but depending on what evidence the police found, that charge might change to attempted murder — meaning Willow could go free. Michael feared that if Willow was exonerated, it would change the outcome of their visitation hearing. Michael reasoned that she’d play up the story that she was a wrongly accused mother who hadn’t seen her children in months and was now married to a congressman. “And you will be dating a hooker,” a resigned Jacinda flatly added.

Michael told Jacinda not to speak that way about herself, and she shrugged that that was how people viewed her. If Curtis was charged with Drew’s shooting, she pointed out, they no longer needed to fake a relationship, but Michael felt Curtis’s lawyers would try to use the same strategy as Alexis to show reasonable doubt. Jacinda tried to give Michael an out to end their relationship, but they both agreed that things were no longer fake between them. A steamy kiss led to more, and Nina walked in to find Michael and Jacinda half-dressed, making out in her office!

Caught On Tape

Outside the PCPD, Trina confided to Kai that she wasn’t sure whether to believe her dad’s story. She didn’t want to believe that Curtis wanted Drew dead, but she was starting to think that she didn’t know her father as well as she thought. More than ever, Trina declared, she needed to know what happened the night Drew was shot, but Kai wondered what she’d do if it turned out that her father was responsible.

Returning to the station after the search at Aurora, Nathan informed Dante that Michael had shown up and was upset about Curtis’s arrest. Nathan next began looking through Curtis’s bank statements for any large withdrawals that might indicate a payment to Selina Wu. Dante also wanted traffic and doorbell cams checked for evidence that Selina or her men were in the vicinity of Drew’s house that night. And as he and Nathan reviewed the report on the neighborhood videos, they realized there was a discrepancy with a camera’s footage that had not yet been reviewed. But once they viewed the tape, Dante and Nathan saw something that impacted the investigation. “There’s our answer,” the acting commissioner declared.

Downstairs in the jail, Drew visited Curtis, gloating that his former friend was about to be charged for shooting him. However, Curtis told Drew to drop the act, since his motive for wanting him dead was “incredibly inconvenient” for the congressman, and suggested they find a way to help each other.
