General Hospital Recap: Cullum Threatens to Expose ‘Nathan’ and Valentin Makes a Promise to Carly

Comments

A lot of information was passed around on the Thursday, April 16, episode of General Hospital. Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) spent some father/son time with Rocco (Finn Carr) and Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), Carly (Laura Wright) was disturbed by the intel Josslyn (Eden McCoy) swapped with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), a drunk Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove) showed his vulnerable side to Laura (Genie Francis), Cassius (Ryan Paevey) gave Jenz (Carlo Rota) something to ponder, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) reminded Faison’s children that he still had the upper hand, and Lucas (Van Hansis) shared his plan with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). Keep on reading for the rundown.

Strange Bedfellows

At the empty Brown Dog, Laura pulled out her phone when Ezra got belligerent with the bartender and recorded his rant about wanting to be mayor and the viper he was being forced to work with. When the bartender asked him to leave, Laura stepped in and showed Ezra the video, saying that she wanted it to be a wake-up call for him to realize how poorly he’d behaved. Rather than calling Commissioner Falconeri to lock Ezra up, Laura brought him back to her place to sober up in private. When Ezra told Laura she should have left him alone because he was having a good time, she countered that it looked like he’d been drinking to forget. With a sigh, Ezra confided that maybe he was. He added that he’d told Laura to stay away from Sidwell and wished he’d taken his own advice.

Next, Ezra told Laura that, during Sidwell’s tantrum about how everyone was failing him, their boss had revealed exactly what was behind the blackmail photos, and he didn’t want to be the next corpse Laura found in her trunk. Ezra lamented that he hated what he’s being made to do by Sidwell and the man it’s made him into, and said he’s finally realized that he’s in too deep to get out clean. When Ezra added that he was expendable now that Jenz has Laura, who was more valuable to him, Laura promised that she wouldn’t let Sidwell hurt him. She thought they could figure a way out of it together, but Ezra wasn’t so sure. While Laura was making him a cup of coffee so they could figure out a plan, Ezra passed out on the couch, so she covered him with a blanket.

Field-ing Questions

Dante invited Danny and Rocco to meet him at the batting cages. Between Rocco’s injured hand and Danny not wanting to play the upcoming season without his dad around, the boys weren’t feeling it, but they changed their minds when Dante said he’d just wanted to do something fun with them. Dante got Danny to cheer up a bit when he spoke about the times they’d spent at the cages with Sam and reminded Danny that he still cared about him. While Danny went to warm up, Dante asked Rocco if he wanted to talk about whatever had him so quiet lately. Knowing he couldn’t tell his father the whole truth, Rocco said he felt bad for Danny, who didn’t have either of his parents around.

Dante pointed out that Danny had them to rely on. At that, Rocco confided that he’d been avoiding Danny because he didn’t know what to say. Dante encouraged his son to fix that by being there for Danny as his brother. Rocco apologized to Danny for not checking up on him, and Danny easily forgave him. But Rocco’s guilt crept back in when Danny ranted that nobody knew what happened to his father that night and asked if Britt had said anything to him about what occurred on the pier. Rocco replied that he hadn’t spoken to Britt and could barely look Danny in the face when Danny said that he figured Rocco would tell him if Britt had said anything.

Change Of Plan

Josslyn went to Carly’s house, announcing that she was there to speak with Valentin. Mother and daughter got into another fight about Josslyn’s career choice and Carly’s hiding an international fugitive before Carly called Valentin downstairs. Josslyn asked Valentin for information about Cullum, telling him that they needed to work together if there was any hope of taking the WSB director down and bringing Jason home. Proclaiming that sharing intel was a two-way street, Valentin demanded news from Josslyn before sharing what he knew, so she told him how she discovered that Cullum was a double agent working with Sidwell.

Impressed by Josslyn’s moxie, Valentin noted that he now had proof that Britt, Cullum, Sidwell, and Faison were all working together. Valentin then shared with Joss that Cullum was the WSB’s leading authority on Cesar Faison — and if what Josslyn said was true, that explained why the bureau had never been able to bring down Faison’s operation. Carly piped up to say that when Cullum had come to the house, he’d told her about the breakdown Anna had on her mission. Valentin speculated that, based on Josslyn’s intel, Anna got too close to discovering something, so Cullum had her removed, and would similarly neutralize anyone else who did the same.

Fearing for her daughter’s safety, Carly demanded that Josslyn stay out of it. Valentin agreed with Carly, noting that Cullum would eventually realize she’d lied and take her out. Joss proclaimed that the situation was too big for her to step back. Desperate to change Josslyn’s mind, Carly said nothing was more important to her than her daughter. Josslyn declared that she loved her mother, but didn’t have a choice because the stakes were too high. With that, she left.

Once they were alone, Carly whispered to Valentin that she was scared Cullum would target Josslyn if he discovered she was an agent. She asked him to pivot their plan of taking Jack down to bring down Sidwell and Cullum instead, since they were a bigger threat to her daughter. She begged Valentin to help her with her daughter, and he promised that nothing would happen to her or Josslyn while he was around.

Food For Thought

Cassius went out to Wyndemere to tell Jenz that he was now the lead detective on Marco’s murder investigation. Blasting the PCPD for not being any closer to making an arrest, Jenz declared that he’d prefer a real detective to investigate the murder, but Cassius stated that he was surrounded by real detectives working around the clock on the case. Next, Cassius told his boss there was no evidence tying Sonny Corinthos or Jason Morgan to Marco’s murder and pointed out that Marco would have known and trusted his killer to let the person get close enough to stab him.

Cassius managed to get Sidwell to see that the killer likely wasn’t Sonny. When Cassius suggested that someone could have had a score to settle with Marco — perhaps a scorned lover — Sidwell insisted that there was only Lucas, who would never hurt his son. Cassius mentioned that there was a gap that night where Lucas’s whereabouts could not be accounted for, but Sidwell shrugged that, as a doctor, Lucas could have been anywhere. Cassius noted that whoever killed Marco also took his phone, and Sidwell realized there could be incriminating evidence on the device. Sidwell ordered Cassius to find the killer and, in the meantime, speak with Cullum about getting more of Britt’s medication. As they wrapped up, Jenz asked if there was anything else Cassius needed to discuss. Cassius flashed back to Josslyn’s questions about Faison, but stated there was nothing else, and then left. Once alone, Jenz reflected on his conversation with Cassius about Lucas, and he seemed to grow suspicious about his late son’s lover….

Sneak Attack

Britt went to see Cullum at G.H., and he taunted her, smirking as he asked if she was there to beg for her life. She explained that she’d worked things out with her brother and Sidwell and was back to working on the project, so she wanted her medication. Before he agreed to give Britt the drug, Cullum demanded to know who’d really shot him, noting that he’d been standing over Jason when the bullet hit him, so it had to be someone else to pull the trigger. Britt reported that when she came to after being knocked unconscious, Cullum was on the ground bleeding, and Jason said he’d shot him. Cullum accused Britt of playing him and threatened to keep digging. Their conversation ended when Lucas entered the room and ordered Britt to leave, saying her presence was a conflict since her boyfriend had shot the patient. After Britt left, Lucas told Cullum that his recovery was going well. When the agent replied that he owed Dr. Jones his life, Lucas replied that doctors tried to preserve every life.

Later, Britt summoned Lucas to her office. She yelled at him for interrupting her conversation with Cullum, but Lucas responded that he was trying to protect her and insisted that she shouldn’t be alone with Cullum. At that, Britt suggested that Lucas also needed to avoid Cullum. If the agent was the one who killed Marco, she pointed out, the agent had Marco’s phone and knew that Lucas was involved. Resigned that there was no way out of the mess, Britt sighed that they needed to wait it out and pray that the WSB exposed Cullum and Sidwell. Lucas informed her that he was going to be the one to bring them down: Staying at Wyndemere put him in the perfect position to do so, and because they trusted him, they’d never see him coming.

Hidden In Plain Sight

After leaving Spoon Island, Cassius visited Cullum at G.H. and told him that Sidwell had been acting erratically, starting with wanting the PCPD to nail Sonny as Marco’s killer even though there was no evidence to support the allegation. Cassius added that he’d managed to get Jenz off of Sonny, but Jenz had ordered him to find the person responsible. Cullum tried to act natural as he asked if there was another suspect in mind. Cassius confided that there was not, but based on the evidence, the killer was someone Marco knew. He then told the WSB agent that they were out of Britt’s medication and demanded that he call his supplier for more. Cullum snarked that Britt could have her meds when she showed them progress and reminded Cassius that he could blow up his life as easily as he could blow up his sister’s.

Meanwhile, out in the hallway, Josslyn approached Cullum’s room and hid behind the corner when she saw “Nathan” exiting….
