Days of Our Lives Comings & Goings Shocker: Peter Blake Recast With One Life To Live Alum
A familiar face is headed to Salem as Dan Gauthier joins the cast of Days of Our Lives as the new Peter Blake. Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) brother is returning to the canvas in the episode streaming on Peacock on Friday, December 19. “I don’t want to give up too much because that’s the fun,” Gauthier told TV Guide Magazine in the newest issue. “The surprise to viewers is him being there or how he is there.”
Back in Action
Gauthier is best known to soap fans for his 2003-06 run as Kevin Buchanan on One Life to Live, which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2007. He has also appeared in prime time series like Tour Of Duty, Sisters, Ellen, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Melrose Place. The actor also has a great number of fans from his starring role of Brad Powell in the popular 1989 film Teen Witch.
Gauthier was the twelfth actor to play the role of Kevin on OLTL, so he’s already comfortable playing a recast. The role of Peter Blake was originally played by Jason Brooks from 1993-96. Although presumed dead after being shot by Jack (Matthew Ashford), Peter resurfaced for another run from 1997-98. During that second run, Peter contracted Jungle Madness, which caused him to go insane, attacking people and shooting up Jennifer’s (Melissa Reeves; Stephanie Cameron played the role at the time) funeral. Her “spirit” (Jenn was not actually dead; rather, she had faked her death to draw out Peter) persuaded Peter to turn himself in, and Stefano visited him in jail to deliver the antidote. On July 31, 2019, Abe (James Reynolds) mentioned that Kristen’s brother had disappeared after being released from prison.
Currently, Kristen, Tony (Thaao Penghlis), and Chad (Billy Flynn) are being kept prisoner in the DiMera crypt, and EJ is up to something nefarious with Dr. Rolf (Richard Warton) involving a cryogenic tube containing a mystery person.
