Days of Our Lives Comings & Goings: Brandon Butler Cast as Mason Whitfield
Brandon Butler is joining the cast of Days of Our Lives in the role of Mason Whitfield, but eagle-eyed fans might recognize the actor from his previous visit to Salem last year as another character entirely.
Brandon Butler Will Be Playing Mason Whitfield
The soap announced the casting with a video they posted to Instagram featuring Butler sharing five facts about himself. The caption also reported that he will make his debut as Mason in the episode streaming on Peacock on Tuesday, September 1.
Butler actually made his daytime debut playing a frat boy in a 2016 episode of General Hospital. But in the episode of DAYS that streamed on June 2, 2025, he appeared as Zack Brady, Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) son who died as a little boy. In this special show, Bo was lingering in a coma when he dreamt of his son Zack as a grown man who urged his father to wake up and return to the land of the living.
Butler’s other credits include the role of Scott Reed in 13 Reasons Why and Brady Finch in Trinkets, both on Netflix. He can also be seen in episodes of SEAL Team and Hysteria.
During the introductory video, Butler shared five fun facts about himself, including being born and raised in Frankfurt, IL, playing competitive sports in school, and then pursuing acting. He also revealed that as a boy, he appeared in a McDonald’s Happy Meal poster advertising a promotion with the Dual Masters trading card game.
“Fun fact number five,” he concluded. “Last, but definitely not least, for me. Days of Our Lives was my late mother’s favorite show. So, this one’s for you, Mom. Love you.”
