Days of Our Lives Comings and Goings: Billy Flynn’s Last Air Date as Chad Revealed
The shocking casting news that Billy Flynn was leaving Days of Our Lives to join the cast of Young and Restless was announced back in March 2025, but given DAYS’s advanced taping schedule, the actor has continued to be seen as Chad DiMera even after he began appearing on Y&R as the new Cane Ashby in June 2025. But now, his final air date on the Peacock soap has been announced.
So Long, Salem
Flynn’s last appearance on DAYS will take place in the episode that streams on Peacock on Tuesday, February 17. On the show, Chad will leave town, accompanied by his two children, Thomas and Charlotte. The episode will also mark the final appearance of Cary Christopher as Thomas and Autumn Gendron as Charlotte.
Flynn debuted as Chad DiMera on DAYS back in September 2014, taking over the role from Casey Deidrick, who had played the character from 2009-13. During his time on the soap, Flynn earned three Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the Lead Actor category. Christopher has been playing Thomas since May 2020 and earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Performer in 2023. Gendron stepped into the role of Charlotte in December 2021.
As first reported back in June 2025, the role of Chad has been recast with Conner Floyd, who previously starred as Chance Chancellor on Y&R from November 2021 through July 2025. His first episode of DAYS is slated to air on April 21, 2026, and Chad is expected to return with his son and daughter in tow, with both roles being recast. Floyd said good-bye to Y&R in order to begin playing Chad, and he shared his final scenes as Chance with Flynn’s Cane.
When his departure from the show first became public, Flynn opened up about his decision to move from DAYS to Y&R in an interview with TV Insider. “I am grateful for my years at DAYS; it changed my life in the best ways,” he mused. “I’ve always said these stories we tell are like doing a play, and I’ve spent the last 10-plus years playing this amazing character and telling one of the all-time great love stories,” referring to Chad and his late wife, Abigail, who was played by both Kate Mansi (Kristina, General Hospital) and Marci Miller during his tenure in Salem.
