Prepared For Battle: Robert Scott Wilson (Alex, l.) and Paul Telfer (Xander) keep things light on the DAYS set.

Having his character back in the Days of Our Lives corporate world and working at Titan again has been a welcome story turn for Robert Scott Wilson (Alex).

“Some of my favorite stuff is the business stuff,” says Wilson. “I really enjoy doing it and playing it, and I love being a part of Titan. When I first took on this role and was told about Alex, I thought a lot about the show Succession — the family, the business, and all of that. I’ve always been inspired by that. I like when we get to have those opportunities of real business and blending in the drama from that, because there’s so much drama in that world.”

It also means the opportunity to have a high-end corporate wardrobe. “Alex has got some great suits. Richard [Bloore, DAYS’s costume designer] takes great care of me,” notes Wilson, joking that it’s a nice change of pace from donning his “birthday suit” on the show and referencing his numerous shirtless scenes (“We’ve got to hit those quotas!”).

On-Set Shtick

Upgraded wardrobe aside, Wilson also has a good time sharing workplace scenes with Paul Telfer (Xander) and John-Paul Lavoisier (Philip). The two actors, who portray Titan’s co-CEOs, are both known for being cut-ups on set.

“I certainly try to find the humor, as well,” shares Wilson. “I think we all try to make sure we find that, but also stay strong as leads in a drama. It’s not always just firm brows and [being] angry. We always look for the humor. For a while I was recording some of the scenes as we did them, so I could track where we were when we came back from breaks and whatnot. And those moments in between were [hilarious]. There’s so much we laugh and crack up about all the time. It keeps everything fresh and colorful. And it’s important to have that, even moving as fast as we are [through a day of production].”

One thing that’s guaranteed to get Wilson and company laughing is referencing a film classic. “Me and J-P are big Glengarry Glen Ross fans,” reveals Wilson. “We recite scenes and monologues from that movie many, many times. Pretty much every time we see each other, we say some type of Glengarry Glen Ross line. That happens a lot in between our business scenes, and it’s fun. Paul jumps in [as well]. He and J-P have their own rapport, their own little things that they joke about.”

When it comes time to get down to the business of filming scenes, the three actors are always ready to put on their serious faces — especially now that their characters are orchestrating a takeover of DiMera Enterprises. “I love that,” declares Wilson about the plot turn. “It’s the best, and it plays homage to the history of the show. The Kiriakises and the DiMeras have have been at each other’s throats for a long time, and it’s a battle for power and success within the town. It’s great to be a part of that. I hope we lean into that even more and more as time goes on. Initially, I know Alex’s reaction was very like, ‘What do you mean you want to take over DiMera?’ But it’s been a great story and a great thing to play as an actor, and I get to work with more people.”

Since the Titan bigwigs are going up against the DiMera honchos, it means Wilson and company will be having more scenes opposite Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) and Thaao Penghlis (Tony) in the months ahead.

“There’s some good stuff with my boy Thaao,” teases Wilson. “I love working with him. He’s one of my favorites. His wit, his charm… He’s a funny guy. And he’s a true professional. After all these years, he shows up and he cares about the material. Yet, he can still be light and joke around. But I respect his work, when it comes to, ‘Action.’ He’s just a great actor and really, really intriguing.”

As the battle between the two families begins, who does Wilson deem as the more powerful one? “The Kiriakises, of course,” delivers Wilson with a smile. “We’re the best. We had leadership from John Aniston as Uncle Victor. He instilled power and strength in all of us and [the importance of] business and family. I think that we’re just badass, loyal, dedicated businessmen and very cutthroat. There’s a lot of power and strength in that.”

Although Alex was once at the helm of Titan, Wilson believes his character has come to terms with being part of the company fold. “He’s still a successful businessman. He still has his own money and things like that,” says Wilson. “I think [losing leadership of Titan] definitely weighed on him, but he’s moving on. He knows the situation and is growing as a person. We’re developing more layers in Alex overall. Of course, I think he’ll always want to be in charge, but he also knows that, as a whole, the family working together can be just as strong as him [leading Titan] by himself.”

Wilson acknowledges that playing the corporate Alex has been a 180-degree turn from his previous DAYS alter ego, Ben. “I really enjoy it,” he contends. “It’s so opposite of what I played for so many years that it has been a breath of fresh air, really. A lot of the shows that I watch in my personal life are rooted in [the business world], and I really enjoy playing that type of stuff. Succession is the main one that inspired me with Alex. I take little pieces from each of the characters, each of the brothers and then the father as well. There are parts from each of them in Alex, just their demeanor and the way things are handled in business and family with them. There have been certain scenes and certain relationships that Alex has had on this show that kind of translate similar.”
