Bold and Beautiful’s Hope and Liam: The Many, Many Times She Has Gone Back to Him

There are certain constants in the universe, and in soaps, one of them is that Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) will always find herself drawn back to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) on Bold and Beautiful. Not long after Liam arrived on the scene back in 2010, he and Hope were pulled into each other’s orbits as she helped him discover the identity of his biological father, Bill. In the 15 years that have elapsed since they first intersected, Hope and Liam have been flowing in and out of each other’s romantic lives, and every breakup eventually seems to lead to a makeup. Let’s take a look back at their back-and-forth on B&B… and try not to get whiplash!

Reversal of Fortune

In 2011, after Liam was led to believe that he’d slept with Amber Moore, Hope was willing to forgive him. However, when Amber claimed he was the father of her unborn child, Hope broke up with him for the first — but certainly not the last — time. Later that year, Amber gave birth but the father of her child (Ambrosia, nicknamed Rosie) was revealed to be Marcus Barber. It became clear that Liam had never cheated on Hope in the first place, so she happily took him back. The reunited couple reveled in their happiness and even got engaged, but during this time, Steffy ramped up her attempts to steal Liam away, and when Hope saw her fiancé kissing her rival, she gave him back his ring and called the whole thing off.

Soon concluding that she shouldn’t have dumped her beau over a simple kiss, Hope followed Liam to Aspen, but Steffy arranged for her to get stuck in a gondola, where she was forced to watch helplessly as Liam and Steffy got married.

While Hope’s attempt to get back with Liam in Aspen failed, it was not trying during a trip to Cabo in 2012 when she finally succeeded. She and Thomas were at the same resort as Liam and Steffy, and Steffy went out of her way to keep her husband away from his ex while also trying to push Hope and Thomas together. Learning about his wife’s machinations, Liam chased down Hope and declared she was the one he wanted to be with. Unfortunately, this reunion was short-lived because Steffy was injured during the chase and diagnosed with a dangerous blood clot, which could kill her if she were put under any stress. So Hope selflessly let Liam go back to his wife.

However, it was subsequently revealed that the blood clot was a lie, and while Steffy insisted she had no part in it (she didn’t — it was Liam’s father, Bill, who had arranged the ruse with the doctor), Liam still left her to reunite with Hope. Despite multiple attempts by Steffy to come between them, Hope and Liam finally became husband and wife in 2012 during a beautiful ceremony in Italy. Returning home, the couple learned their marriage wasn’t valid in the United States, and after seeing a video of Liam kissing Steffy before the wedding in Italy (when he mistakenly believed that Hope was going to jilt him at the altar), Hope refused to sign the marriage license and insisted on another ceremony. But Liam showed up to the wedding redo with dyed hair and a tattoo after spending the night partying with Steffy, so Hope called the nuptials off.

Hope began to sing a different tune after various truths came to light (namely, how Bill had tried to sabotage her wedding to Liam in Italy, and how Rick had set her up to think more had happened between Steffy and Liam on the eve of the do-over wedding than it actually did). She apologized to Liam for doubting him and although he’d gone back to Steffy, he once again reunited with Hope. Brooke threw a surprise wedding ceremony in 2013 for her daughter and Liam to celebrate their reunion, but Steffy crashed the party to reveal she was pregnant with Liam’s baby, and the groom left his bride-to-be to be with Steffy and their child.

When Steffy lost the baby and was told she could never carry another, she told Liam he should be with someone who could give him the family he deserved. Given that he was still grieving, Hope reluctantly accepted when he proposed to her, then quickly broke off the engagement when she found out that, in addition to making a romantic video for her, Liam had also made one for Steffy.

Despite sharing a kiss with Liam’s brother, Wyatt, Hope agreed to marry Liam when he popped the question again, hoping to cement their relationship. But once again, Steffy interfered with their wedding plans by showing up to announce that she’d had a procedure so that she could get pregnant again and wanted Liam back. Liam declared he would remain faithful to Hope, but realizing that Steffy would always be a part of their relationship, Hope took a step back.

While dating Wyatt, Hope still couldn’t erase her feelings for Liam and began seeing both brothers, ultimately choosing Liam. Unfortunately, when Wyatt’s interfering mother, Quinn, arranged for Liam to be late meeting Hope at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Wyatt took advantage of the situation and convinced Hope that Liam wasn’t good enough for her. Heartbroken, Hope impulsively married Wyatt on the rebound in 2014. But after losing Wyatt’s baby later that year, she moved to Italy to recuperate.

Hope returned to Los Angeles in 2018 and naturally made a beeline for Liam. Steffy was pregnant, though there was some question as to the baby daddy because she had cheated on Liam with his father. Believing that the one-night stand with Bill had become an ongoing affair, Liam dumped Steffy and reunited with Hope, even popping the question again. However, once again, their wedding was interrupted by Wyatt revealing that Bill had lied about the length of his affair with Steffy. Liam and Steffy later reunited and welcomed their daughter, Kelly.

When Hope discovered that she was pregnant, Liam was torn between the two mothers of his children, but ultimately, Steffy’s scheming sent Liam back into Hope’s arms once more, and they were soon married in 2018. Though when Hope and Liam were informed that their baby was stillborn, she began pushing him back towards Steffy and their family. She then opted to marry Thomas to be a mother to his son, Douglas.

In 2019, Hope and Liam learned that their baby hadn’t died, and that the doctor, Reese Buckingham, had secretly sold her to Taylor for Steffy to adopt. The couple happily reunited to raise their daughter, Beth, and even remarried. But over time, Steffy and Thomas worked together to separate them, and Hope later found herself flirting with Steffy’s husband Finn, and turning down Thomas’s multiple marriage proposals before accepting Carter’s in 2025.

Liam being diagnosed with a fatal brain tumor in 2025 seriously affected Hope, and Carter urged her to make his final days as happy as possible. But when the diagnosis was revealed to be a fake, Liam and Hope found their feelings rekindled once more. Though torn between her commitment to her fiancé and her love for her ex, Hope ultimately gave Carter back his ring so she could give things with Liam one more go.
