Les showed up at the police station looking for Jack and flashed his temporary custody agreement to Hal. The men exchanged words, and Les made it very clear that he intended to pick up J.J. So instead of warning Carly, Hal … made an urgent call to stop Jack’s plane from taking off…. After overhearing Carly fret over the phone to Jack that Les could get custody any minute, J.J. tried to hitchhike his way out this bad-luck town. Carly promised the boy that tough guys like Jack and Keith would protect him. He pointed out that she’s no linebacker (well, he didn’t use that word). “That’s true, but I am mean. I’m mean as a snake when I want to be and you know it’s true, don’t you?” responded Carly (and don’t you forget it!). Then she pinky-swore that he will always be a member of the family before gleefully beating him at checkers. The high-five she offered was a downer, though: that’s what his mom used to do. Later, she let him call Jack, but a recording said the phone was out of range ‐ just as Carly opened the door to Les…. Craig, in that charmingly insincere way that only Craig can pull off, wished Jennifer and Mike all the very best with their pregnancy. They could not have looked more terrified. The sum total of overreactions clearly convinced Craig that something else was going on, so he just kept pushing, with pre-natal advice and plenty of questions, until Mike nobly stepped up to say that he and Jennifer were having a baby and they’re very happy about it. Then she lied that she was 10 weeks pregnant, and they sent a still-suspicious Craig on his way. When he was gone, Mike promised a feebly protesting Jen that he meant everything he said and he would raise the baby as his own. Suddenly, they got all googly-eyed about their impending parenthood…. Henry escorted Katie to the OB/GYN, where she reassured him that she’s getting birth control (“You can exhale now,” she grinned.) Soon, a careless nurse came by and left a stack of files just sitting there, sooooo temptingly. As the some quirky conspiracy music played (just call it the “Coleman shuffle”), Katie got up to check out Jen’s file, while Henry played lookout. The nurse came back as the Colemans resumed nonchalance (complete with coordinated leg-crossing in time to the music). But Katie’s curiosity soon led to an argument about her true intentions. Henry was rightly dubious of her reasoning for snooping — “trying to be a friend to Jennifer” — but she also claimed her motive was to protect Mike, and brought up the whole Carly mess he was in a couple of years ago regarding Sage. His frustration was clear, though they reconciled. “Fighting with you totally bites,” she said. “Totally bites,” he agreed, mocking her word choice before their make-up smooch. Henry also suggested she get a new hobby. “You already have martinis and gambling. What’s left — online trading?” she quipped. He soon left for work, but the files were still there, taunting her. She held strong until the nurse actually moved them into Katie’s exam room and wouldn’t take them out even after Katie begged her. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” said Katie, as she jumped up to thoroughly review Jen’s file…. Keith had to make peace with Lily’s bodyguard/son Luke before telling her his latest plan: checking in Les’s room at the halfway house for clues that he might have gotten out (after lockdown) to kill Julia. Keith asked Lily to come along because he’s “a bit of a hothead when it comes to Sweeney” and she has finesse. (Someone really should tell Keith that Lily’s actually a total mess when she’s under pressure, especially when there’s improv involved.) Anyway, she agreed, and they arrived at the halfway house posing as a City Times reporter and photographer. Unfortunately, Lily’s too famous for undercover work and the guy who runs the place recognized her. Luckily, he was a little slow, so she was able to divert his creepy attention by simply shutting the door. Alone in Les’s room, they quickly learned that the halfway house is really more of an all-the-way house — a walled-up dumbwaiter to the kitchen would have provided a perfect escape route for Les. …. At the Hughes house, Celia was nervous about meeting Casey’s admittedly intimidating family, but he was more interested in getting frisky. She went to touch up her makeup when Casey’s random friend Matt basically just walked right into the house uninvited to pick up some chem notes. Sensing the sexual tension, Matt traded the notes for a “just in case” condom, though Casey didn’t ask for it. Casey and Celia were later engaged in the sexually-stimulating activity of remote control search when they started making out. That’s when Tom and Margo arrived. “I like your son very much, Mrs. Detective Hughes,” stammered Celia hilariously. Soon, Kim and Bob arrived and what followed were some charmingly realistic family scenes — until Margo practically mugged her son while trying to get pictures out of his wallet, which she then tossed to Kim. Out fell the condom, and … awkward. No one ever needed to see Kim holding a condom like it was a teacup.

Luke told Lily he couldn’t stay at the house and pretend everything is okay. Lily answered that running away doesn’t solve anything. (She should know.) Lily admitted she can’t stop loving Holden, and Luke couldn’t understand. Lily begged him to forgive Holden but when Luke fired back asking if she could forgive Holden, she was painfully silent. Lily told Luke she doesn’t know if she and Holden will get back together and convinced Luke to stay. Keith showed up and asked Lily for her help.
Jack had Les tailed by police officers. Keith insisted Les is guilty of killing Julia and wanted to know what Jack was doing about it (Keith will soon learn the Oakdale PD isn’t very good at their jobs). Jack warned Keith to back off from the investigation. Jack and Keith agreed that they would die to protect JJ. Keith and Jack took off to confront their least favorite convict. At Metro, Les called his lawyer about getting out of town with JJ as soon as possible. Keith and Jack showed up and Les smirked, “I didn’t know you guys were dating.” They grilled him on why Les lied about his release from Statesville. Keith got a little rough with Les, and Les said he was at a halfway house with a 7 p.m. lockdown.
Also at Metro, Rafael was working for a change (instead of obsessing about Celia) when Will showed up looking for Alison. After a phone conversation with Aaron, Alison arrived at Metro and Will asked her a lot of questions about Aaron. Will thanked Alison for getting him the job at Henry and Katie’s gym. It was obvious he’d much rather work at Metro with Alison, but she didn’t think that was a good idea.
Margo invited Craig down to the police station and blasted him for stealing Jen’s company. Margo accused Craig of being afraid of emotional connection and wondered why he doesn’t come over for family dinner (maybe to avoid her bad cooking?). Margo felt bad when she remembered that yesterday would have been Bryant’s birthday. Craig admitted he misses Bryant. (Get it? Fatherhood is important to Craig!) Meanwhile, Barbara showed up at the station to tell yet another person about Jennifer’s pregnancy. (How about skywriting, Babs?!) Barbara told Hal that Jennifer is considering abortion and insisted Hal go talk to her. Craig overheard Hal and Barbara arguing about a baby and demanded to know who they were talking about. Barbara lied but Craig was suspicious, as was Hal. After Craig left, Barbara told Hal that Craig is the father of Jen’s baby. A disgusted Hal warned Barbara to leave Jennifer and Mike alone.
Mike and Jennifer woke up in bed and started talking about — what else? — whether Jennifer should keep Craig’s baby. A worried Jennifer told Mike, “Love is easy, forgiveness is hard.” A shirtless Mike informed Jen that he can’t see Craig being a part of their lives forever and they took turns calling Craig “the scourge of Oakdale.” Mike told Jen he could love the child as his own and made a whimsical speech about fatherhood: “It’s not about biology, it’s about heart.” Jennifer said she feels a moral obligation to protect the child from Craig and that she wants to have the baby. Jennifer and Mike discussed lying to Craig and to the child about its paternity. Mike insisted that they are in this together just as Craig showed up and said, “I believe congratulations are in order…” Gulp!

Aaron, looking all 1970s in his big collared shirt, told Alison she couldn’t go to Seattle with him, stating the timing was bad and that he’ll be at the hospital a lot. “Seattle isn’t forever. We are,” he declared. At Holden and Lily’s, Luke was upset to learn Aaron was leaving town so Holden called Aaron and asked him to swing by Lily’s homecoming party. Aaron and Alison showed up and Alison overheard Aaron and Luke talking about family and Aaron told Luke he has to learn to forgive. Alison and Aaron returned home and Alison shared her fears that he won’t return. Packing then took a back seat to making out. Aaron called for a cab and promised he’d return. Aaron said goodbye and Alison was in tears (we’re talking mascara running down her cheeks). Bye, Aaron!
Lily was welcomed home by Emma, Faith, Natalie and Luke. Luke wondered why Holden came home with Lily. Emma offered chocolate cake and homemade ice cream (so THAT’S why we haven’t seen her lately). Lucinda prodded Holden to see if he was moving back home. Holden later informed Lily that he’d like to come home and be with the kids. Um, too late. In an uncomfortable exchange, Lily told him that it was not a good idea and they have to figure out what went wrong and what they really want before they start being a family again. Holden agreed to stay one night and leave the next morning. Luke spied Lily and Holden reading a story to the girls.
At the police station, Jack told Keith that the last call on Julia’s cell phone was from a phone booth. Carly and JJ showed up at the police station because they were called by a social worker working with Les. Les revealed he had been granted supervised visitation. Poor JJ looked horrified. Scott, er, Keith said, “I’m calling Baldwin.” Les gave Carly a smug, scary look while spending time with JJ. Carly confronted Les about scaring JJ and he threatened Carly to stay out of his way. Carly told Jack that Les said something about the playground monitors being on their cell phones when JJ broke his leg (way to work the young actor’s real-life injury into the story!). Jack and Carly feared that Les was watching JJ. Jack put that Oakdale PD training to work and found out Les had been released a week before Julia’s murder.
At the park, Mike told Babs she belongs back in the loony bin for suggesting that he act like the father of Craig and Jennifer’s baby. “Lying is not the answer,” declared the always honorable Mike. Barbara asked Mike if he wants Craig involved in their lives forever when he could have a family with Jennifer instead. Meanwhile, Jennifer told Paul she wanted a life with Mike and a successful career but now her life is a mess. Paul asked if she had a plan (this is the same woman who obviously didn’t think about birth control with Craig, so doubtful). “One mistake I made and my life is ruined!” she cried. Jennifer feared that whatever choice she makes, she and Mike won’t recover. Paul mentioned his situation with Cabot, but said that this is different because of Craig. Paul then asked the question many fans are thinking: “How can you even consider having Craig Montgomery’s child?” Jennifer attacked Paul, saying he doesn’t care about what she wants. Paul reassured Jennifer when she wondered if Paul will support her choice. Mike returned home and he and Jen cuddled on the couch while he remembered his conversation with Babs. Barbara later blasted Paul for giving Jennifer his opinion on what she should do with the baby. Barbara: “How could you do that?” Paul: “It was easy. I just thought of you.” Ouch.
In an effort to show just how much Craig’s children mean to him, Craig “celebrated” Bryant’s birthday at the family crypt. He brought along Bryant’s favorite book — The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn — and started to read aloud. Sierra showed up with flowers and Craig urged her to stay. Sierra read from the book and she and Craig reminisced about how much Bryant loved that book (who knew the kid was such a reader?!). Craig wished he could turn the clock back and do things over again, but Sierra told him that he never changes and walked out.

Angry young man Luke — who stopped yelling at Holden long enough to get a new haircut — showed up at the police station and yep, yelled at Holden some more about leaving their family and not helping Lily when she was arrested. Luke walked out on Holden when Holden suggested that they try to be a family again. Keith looked like he was going to the gym in his jogging jacket and he should have run when Lucinda arrived and warned him, “I wouldn’t trust you as far as I could throw you.” Lily overheard and demanded that Lucinda apologize. “Lily are you hellbent for martyrdom?” gasped Lucinda. “I haven’t been honest with anyone for weeks,” shrugged Lily (which is why she is in her current predicament, thank you very much). Lucinda questioned Keith’s motives for helping Lily and Lily told Lucinda she recanted her confession thanks to Keith. Lily informed Lucinda she was still facing other charges (obstruction of justice), and Lucinda later bailed Lily out. Lucinda told Keith she is keeping her eye on him. Lily and Keith had another uncomfortable talk about Julia (who must be rolling over in her grave) and Keith told Lily that Julia was no angel. Really? Keith informed Lily that he’s staying in town until Julia’s killer is caught. Lily invited Holden to come to her welcome home celebration.
Alison practically insisted Aaron leave for Seattle to be with his sick mother, Julie, then spent the rest of the episode crying about it. Aaron surprised Alison with a candlelit dinner at Metro (with customers still there — oh so romantic!). Aaron booked the last flight out of town and tracked down Holden at the police station. He told him that Julie is sick and he’s going to be with her. Aaron thanked Holden for supporting him and said goodbye to Holden, then Lily. Meanwhile, the thought of Aaron losing his mother must have inspired Alison to call her MIA mom, Susan, for some support. Alison was a sobbing wreck, so Susan told Alison to go to Seattle with him if she thinks Aaron is the one. With roses in hand, Aaron came home and found Alison packing for Seattle (but with the look on his face, she won’t be going…).
At the family planning clinic, Barbara demanded that Jennifer have Craig’s baby. Barbara accused Jennifer of not taking this seriously enough and that this isn’t like breaking a lease. (So much for sensitivity, Babs!) Mike tried to referee when Jennifer insisted on keeping her appointment for “the procedure.” Barbara went round and round with the poor family clinic counselor, who finally cried uncle and told Jennifer to call her later for an appointment. Score one for Babs, who later blabbed Jennifer’s secret to Paul. He blasted her for making all of this public. Barbara shared her wacky reasoning that this baby will bring their family closer together. “Craig couldn’t leave her company alone without destroying it, what do you think he’s going to do to a baby?” (Leave it to Paul to be the voice of reason). Paul warned Babs to stay away from Jennifer and went off to console her. Back home, Mike brought Jennifer tea and insisted she stay with him. Jennifer asked Mike how he feels about the baby. Mike avoided giving his opinion on what Jennifer should do insisting, “You’d resent me — one way or another.” Jennifer wondered if Mike would still love her, and he wondered if he could share part of Jen with Craig. Paul showed up for some brotherly support and asked Jennifer if she’d want the baby if Craig wasn’t the father. Barbara then tracked down Mike at the park and suggested he claim Jennifer’s baby as his own — assuming it doesn’t have spiky blond hair.

Katie and Henry debated what they should do about the Jennifer situation. With all the secrecy, Katie feared Craig was the father. Katie wondered if she should tell her brother. “No!” Henry exclaimed. Craig would insist on getting involved and destroy any chance Mike and Jen had. Speaking of the devil, Craig walked in at that exact moment. (Imagine that.) He tried to trick his little sister and led on that he knew what was going on with Jennifer. “How much do you know?” inquired Katie. “Enough,” Craig replied nonchalantly. Henry to the rescue though, pointing out they — gasp! — might not know the same thing. He deduced Craig was bluffing. Craig folded and explained he was getting “weird vibes” from Jennifer. Katie decided to tell all (or so Craig thought) and explained to her bro that the “truth” was Jen and Mike were having problems. Smart girl — but did Craig buy the act?….
With the hope of new evidence, Lily embraced Keith and planned her release. Not so fast. Tom entered to burst Lily’s bubble. Keith revealed that he planted the damaging evidence. Lily pleaded to Tom not to blame Keith, because he was protecting Luke. Tough luck. Tom informed then they were both guilty of tampering with evidence and charges would be brought. Jack tried to change Tom’s mind about pursuing charges, but wasn’t successful. Good news, though, a new lead came in with phone records showing someone called Julia from a pay phone the night of her murder. Lily voiced her hopes of being with her kids to Holden as Luke spied from the doorway. The young man made his presence known and demanded from his father: “Are you disappointed she didn’t do it?”….
Aaron and Alison’s bliss was interrupted by an alarming phone call: Aaron’s mom is in the hospital. Aaron explained to Ali that they were running tests, but they weren’t sure what was wrong. Ali suggested that he go home and be with his mom. She promised to take care of everything in Oakdale while he’s gone….
“Are you really pregnant?” Mike asked Jennifer after bursting into the doctor’s office. Her chin quivered as she confirmed it. “Why aren’t we celebrating?” he wondered. “Because it isn’t your baby, Mike.” (That’ll do it.) It’s Craig’s baby, she informed him as she begged him to leave her alone. He was visibly upset and wished she had trusted him with this. She didn’t want to break his heart or lose him. Mike was adamant that she could not make this decision in one night. He told her she would regret it. She’s cried that if she waited any longer she might not be able to go through with the abortion….
After tracking her daughter down, Barbara barged into the waiting room. Jen had to explain (again) that the baby was Craig’s. Well, Babs assumed the worst and went off. Jen assured her it wasn’t rape; it was completely consensual. The mother raged, “How could you let that man put his hands on you?!” Jennifer cried that Barbara could not make her feel any worse about herself than she already does. Mike intervened and told Barbara to beat it. Babs cried that she wouldn’t let her daughter do this; Jennifer would regret the abortion for the rest of her life. Mike tried to get Jennifer home but Barbara tried another angle. Jennifer could have this baby… but Craig didn’t have to know it was his.
