On Young and Restless, Nate Hastings was in for a big surprise last year when Amy Lewis, who had been romantically entangled with his late father, Nathan Hastings, Sr., revealed that she had secretly given birth to Nathan’s son — Damian, Nate’s half brother. He is, of course, far from the first Genoa City resident to belatedly discover the existence of a sibling they hadn’t known about. Here’s a look back at some of the many characters who reunited with a brother or sister they never knew they had.

The move pushed Lorie’s mother, Jennifer — Bruce’s former lover — to reveal a long-kept secret. She told Mark that Bruce was Lorie’s biological father! Mark agreed to keep Jennifer’s confidence and broke up with a devastated Lorie. In 1977, Lorie finally learned about her true paternity, and she was understandably left reeling when she realized she’d been love with her half brother. -
Screenshot CBS In 1988, Cricket (Lauralee Bell.) quickly fell for handsome doctor, Scott Grainger (Peter Barton), when he began treating her mother, Jessica, who had been diagnosed with AIDS. While going through Scott’s photo album in 1989, Cricket noticed a picture of his dad, Jim (John O’Hurley), who looked very similar to an old snapshot of her own father. Cricket’s mother had told very little about her father, except for his first name, Richard. Upon meeting Jim (whose middle name was Richard), Cricket relayed the story of her mother, but he denied knowing her. However, while attending Cricket’s 20th birthday party, he immediately recognized Jessica. The couple realized that Jessica’s disapproving mother had sabotaged their relationship. While Cricket was thrilled to finally know her father, she was forced to break off her engagement to Scott, since they were half siblings. Cricket and Scott attended the wedding of Jessica and John before Jess passed away. -

LeBlanc) fugitive father, was arrested by the FBI in 2008. Shortly thereafter, 15-year-old Eden (Erin Sanders) showed up looking for him, and revealed that she was Lowell's daughter. Lowell asked Michael to look after the girl, since she had no other family. Michael's wife, Lauren, encouraged her husband to take his new half sibling in. -

The pair had both been led to believe they were first cousins and that Devon's maternal aunt, Tyra, was Ana’s biological mom, but it turned out that Devon’s mother, Harmony, had actually given birth to her. Tyra had raised Ana as her own, since her older sister, Harmony, was struggling with a drug addiction at the time. Devon immediately embraced his new relationship with Ana. -

Kevin ran a DNA test that verified that he had a new half brother. Tom had impregnated Ryder’s mom, Shelia, while using the alias Tom Callahan. The two brothers compared notes about their childhoods, and realized they’d both been abused by Tom. While Kevin tried to get his family to welcome Ryder into the fold, Michael, Lauren and Jana were all wary of the shady newcomer in their lives. -

It turned out that Ronan was the baby Rose DeVille had stolen from Nina and sold on the black market decades prior. Ronan mentioned having lived in Genoa City and seemed connected to Nina and her friend, Christine. Eventually his back story was disclosed, and Chance gained a half brother, -

Nikki broke it up by announcing that she was Dylan's mother, too! Nikki had given Dylan up for adoption, believing him to be the son of nefarious cult leader Ian Ward. Dylan challenged her account and demanded a DNA test, which proved Nikki was his mother. However, when Nikki’s ex, Paul, needed a liver transplant, Dylan proved to be a match. To everyone’s surprise, it was revealed that Paul was the father of Nick and Victoria's half brother. -
Tracey Bregman, Jess Walton "The Young and the Restless" Set CBS television City Los Angeles 5/25/10 ©sean smith/jpistudios.com 310-657-9661 Episode # 9429 U.S. Airdate 6/28/10 JPI In 2010, Jill (Jess Walton, l.) presented proof to a disbelieving Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman) that they were both fathered by department store tycoon Neil Fenmore. Lauren shunned her big sister, but Jill refused to be ignored. She changed her last name to Fenmore and filed a lawsuit demanding her share of the family estate. Eventually, Lauren relented and gave Jill half of Fenmore’s conglomerate. The halfn sisters found a way to work together, and slowly grew closer. -

Cane was believed to have died when he tried to stop his corrupt father, Colin Atkinson, from marrying Jill Abbott and leaped in front of a gun that was aimed at his wife, Lily, and their young twins, Charlie and Mattie. However, Cane was later discovered alive — it was actually Caleb who had died! Posing as Caleb, Cane joined forces with his mother, Genevieve, to trick Colin into kidnapping the twins. The plan worked like a charm, resulting in Colin's arrest and extradition back to Australia. -
Howard Wise/jpistudios.com In 2014, Mariah (Camryn Grimes, l.) arrived in Genoa City, hired by Victor Newman to gaslight Sharon with her uncanny resemblance to Sharon's late daughter, Cassie. Turns out, there was a reason for Mariah being a mirror image of Cassie — they were identical twins! When this came to light, Mariah gained not only a mom, but a half sister, Faith (Reylynn Caster) and a half brother, Noah, both Sharon's children by Nick Newman. The reason Mariah and Sharon had been separated for so long was that Helen Copeland, the nurse who delivered Sharon's twins, stole Mariah as per Ian Ward’s orders, and Helen and Ian raised her. Although initially hesitant to embrace her new family, especially her mother Sharon, Mariah came to love all of them. -
Howard Wise/jpistudios.com Johnny’s (Paxton Mishkind, seated second from l.) world was upended in 2022 when he learned he was actually Chelsea (Melisa Claire Egan, far l.) nd Billy’s (Jason Thompson) biological son. Although he knew he’d been adopted by Victoria, he never imaged that his birth mother was someone living in Genoa City. In the process, he suddenly gained a half brother, Connor (Judah Mackey), the son of Chelsea and Adam (Mark Grossman). Although Johnny didn’t initially welcome Chelsea with open arms and even lashed out at Victoria for telling him about his origins, he eventually bonded with his birth mom and forged a relationship with his new brother.
