General Hospital Stars Who Crossed Into Music: Rick Springfield, Ricky Martin, Jack Wagner & More

When General Hospital alum Chad Duell (ex-Michael) announced that he would be releasing his new single, “If You Need Me,” he joined a group of actors from the soap who have also had careers in music alongside their acting. GH stars like Rick Springfield (ex-Noah), Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco), and Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky) are among the multi-talented performers featured in the gallery below.

  1. Rick Springfield

    Rick Springfield had already released multiple albums, but while appearing on GH as Dr. Noah Drake from 1981-83, his new album, Working Class Dog, became a smash hit thanks to the No. 1 single “Jessie’s Girl.” He has continued to act in film and television while also releasing new music.

    ABC
    Ricky Martin was a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo and a solo recording artist before joining GH as singer Miguel Morez (1994-95). Post-Port Charles, his fame skyrocketed, and the two-time Grammy winner has sold over 70 million records worldwide.

    While appearing on GH as Frisco Jones, Jack Wagner had a hit single with “All I Need” in 1985. He continued to release new music while acting, and combined the two talents when he played the title role in Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway.

    John Stamos got his big break playing musician Blackie Parrish on GH from 1982-4, and after leaving the soap, the accomplished drummer toured with the Beach Boys. He has also starred in Broadway productions of shows like How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Cabaret, and Bye Bye Birdie.

  5. Jonathan Jackson

    Following Jonathan Jackson’s first run as Lucky Spencer from 1993-99, he formed the band Enation that included his brother, Richard, on drums. And from 2012-18, he acted and performed music as Avery Barkley on the ABC prime time series Nashville.

  6. Wally Kurth

    While appearing on GH, Wally Kurth was able to show off his musical talents through Ned Quartermaine’s rock star alter ego, Eddie Maine. He is also the lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Kurth and Taylor, and one of their songs written for GH, “Barefoot Ballet,” won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song.

  7. Scott Reeves singing

    Scott Reeves, who played Steven Lars Webber from 2009-13, made up one half of the country duo Blue County, which had four songs on the Billboard Charts, and co-wrote Toby Keith's No. 1 Billboard hit "Made in America."

    William Lipton was an accomplished musician before being cast as Cameron Webber in 2018. He occasionally performed on the show, and after exiting in 2023, he starred with his real-life band, The Runarounds, on a show for Amazon Prime.

  9. Jacob Young as Lumiere

    During his 2000-03 stint as Lucky Spencer, Jacob Young released a self-titled country album and later starred as Lumière in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

  10. Adrianne Leon

    Adrianne León, who played Brook Lynn in her punk rocker days (2004-06; 2010-11), actually wrote songs for GH before acting on it and was the lead singer of the rock band Caught Crimson.

  11. GH Josslyn Oscar

    In 2018, Garren Stitt and Eden McCoy performed at GH's Nurses' Ball as Oscar Nero and Josslyn Jacks. The following year, the actor released an EP, Heartbreak Lake, and in 2021, he released more pop music under the name LAKE!

  12. Stuart Damon Prince Charming

    Stuart Damon starred in Broadway musicals and had a career-making turn as Prince Charming in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella opposite Lesley Ann Warren, a precursor to his 1970 album release, Stuart "Champion" Damon. After joining GH in 1977 as Dr. Alan Quartermaine, his musical performances were a highlight of many Nurses' Balls.
