In 1996, Nancy Lee Grahn (pictured with Stephen Nichols as Stefan Cassadine) debuted as General Hospital's Alexis Davis. The actress came into the show as a Daytime Emmy winner from her work as Julia Wainwright Capwell on Santa Barbara, and had previously appeared on another ABC soap, One Life to Live, as Beverly Wilkes. On the occasion of her 25th anniversary in the role in 2021, Grahn recalled to Soap Opera Digest that the GH gig came about when "I called Michele Val Jean [a former SB scribe who was then writing for GH], who called [then-Head Writer] Richard Culliton, who called [then-Executive Producer] Wendy Riche and they said, 'We’ll take ya.' ” Regarding the creative input she was allowed into shaping Alexis, Grahn noted, "You have to earn your right to have an opinion. So, not really at the beginning, but in time I’d factor in here and there. Often it was received, and other times not so much. I always advocated for Alexis to be true. Complex and unpredictable, too, but real is imperative."

In 2016, Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) and Eric Forrester (John McCook) said, “I do" on Bold and Beautiful in a ceremony conducted by Reverend Murphy (Perez Hilton). Eric was crestfallen when his loved ones were a no-show, and a glum Quinn blamed herself, knowing how opposed Eric's family was to the union. Eric assured her, "It's not your fault, Quinn. It's not. They did this. This was a choice that they made. And I'm not gonna let them interfere with my choice." In front of one key witness, Ivy Forrester, the couple exchanged vows. Ivy then went to chastise the absentee guests, who had hoped Eric would change his mind. "Congratulations," Ivy told them. "You all broke Uncle Eric's heart for absolutely no reason — he and Quinn are married."
