Five Things That Happened On November 11 In Soap History

In 1991, Bold and Beautiful's Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley) gave birth to her son with Clarke, C.J. She was already mom to Macy Alexander (Bobbie Eakes). The later-in-life bundle of joy was aged up to a teenager before too long, turning 16 on the show in 1996! As a young adult, C.J. carried on the friction between the Forrester and Spectra clans by clashing with Rick, but they did eventually become good friends. C.J. was then in the uncomfortable situation of being one of the first to know that Amber, who had claimed to be pregnant by Rick, was actually unsure of who the true father was.

In 1991, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) remarried on Young and Restless. Before the ceremony, the bride's father, John Abbott, warmly welcomed Brad back into the family. Brad then shared a slightly too-close moment with Traci's sister, Ashley, which Traci witnessed (but didn't say anything about when her sister then joined her to help her get ready). The ceremony went off without a hitch. At the reception, Victor and John offered heartfelt toasts to the newlyweds' happiness. Jack was more concerned about his alcoholic wife, Nikki, potentially making a spectacle of herself.

In 1998, Paul Anthony Stewart made his Guiding Light debut as Danny Santos. The actor had previously made a strong impression on soap fans in the Loving role of Casey Bowman. Stewart remained with the show through 2005, when he was written out alongside his leading lady, Nancy St. Alban, who played Michelle Bauer Santos. Both actors returned for short stints in 2009, the year GL went off the air.

In 2011, Young and Restless introduced Melissa Claire Egan as Chelsea Lawson. The actress landed her Y&R gig shortly after ending her impressive 2006-11 run as Annie Novak Chandler. In 2023, the actress recalled to Soap Opera Digest that when she first met with Y&R about the role, "I only knew a few things about her. I knew she was, like, a grifter and kind of a surfer chick, so I crimped my hair in kind of a beachy, hippie way and we had a great meeting and a few days later, I was offered the part."

In 2020, Gregory Harrison assumed the role of Gregory Chase on General Hospital. The veteran star of prime-time and film recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2023, "[It was] the first job offered to me after the pandemic [shut down Hollywood production for several months]. My agent called to say, 'General Hospital wants to know if you want to do an arc.” Now, I have to preface this by saying that for 55 years I had been offered soaps, you know? Maybe half a dozen times, I was offered arcs with Susan Lucci [ex-Erica, All My Children], you know, to play the man of her moment of whatever that year was, and I always said, 'Oh, no, no, no.' It scared me so bad. But I heard myself say, 'Yes! Tell ’em yes.' It was almost like an out-of-body experience, because I was just desperate to go do what I love to do. And then after I hung up the phone, I went, 'Oh, my God, what did I just say yes to?!' You know, 'Why did you wait till you were 70-something to test your brain with 30 pages of dialogue a night? What, are you crazy? Are you out of your mind?' I went through terror for a couple of weeks and then I started the show… The terror ended after two or three weeks [and] I’m having the best time!" The actor left the show in 2024, when Gregory, who had been diagnosed with ALS, passed away.
