In 2002, Josh Lewis (Robert Newman) and Reva Shayne (Kim Zimmer) wed for the third time on Guiding Light. The supercouple had originally walked down the aisle in 1989, only for Reva to be presumed dead the following year. In 1995, Reva resurfaced, but it wasn't until 1999 that they pledged their troth for the second time, but the marriage tanked and ended in divorce. They found their way back to one another yet again and after he proposed, they selected the unfinished Old Beacon Hotel as the site of their latest wedding (which was the subject of a special installment of the TLC series A Wedding Story).

In 1994, Spanish music superstar Julio Iglesias appeared as himself on General Hospital in scenes with Ricky Martin's Miguel Morez as well as Rena Sofer's Lois Cerullo. In the storyline, Miguel and Lois encountered Julio while touring a high-tech recording studio in New York City.
