In 1990, GH’s Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) and Felicia Cummings Jones (Kristina Wagner) remarried. After Frisco was presumed dead on a mission for the WSB, Felicia moved on with Colton Shore — but their 1989 marriage wasn’t valid because Frisco wasn’t dead. When he revealed himself to a shocked Felicia, she asked for a divorce, but he refused to sign the papers, and she ultimately picked him over her new love. Frisco presented her with her old wedding ring, modified to reflect not only their past, but their future, and they swapped vows anew in Sean’s penthouse. “From this day forward, I dedicate my life to loving and protecting you,” he told her.

In 2004 on Days of Our Lives, Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis, pictured with Renee Jones as Lexie Carver) intended to reveal the name of the Salem Stalker at the town's fundraising circus. Meanwhile, the serial killer made plans to thwart Tony, and opened the door to the cage enclosing a tiger. Once the tiger was uncaged, the animal almost got to Marlena, but John intervened. Meanwhile, as Tony began his speech preparing to disclose the identity of the murderer, the killer used a remote control to pour a bucket of blood over Tony's head! The bucket also fell and hit him, causing Tony to stagger as the tiger closed in on him. The tiger then mauled Tony. He appeared to die, but in the end, turned up alive, as did the other victims of the serial killer. In the end, Tony turned out not to be Tony — he was actually Andre! — and Tony was safely un-mauled.

In 2007, Dixie Cooney Martin (Cady McClain) consumed poisoned pancakes on All My Children, which had been intended for Babe Carey, that led to Dixie's presumed death. McClain told Soap Opera Digest at the time that she objected not to being fired ("I understand these things can sometimes become inevitable") but to the method by which AMC disposed of the character: "[Dixie] was written out randomly and almost casually.... I think it was very unsatisfying for the audience." In 2014, she admitted to Digest that her firing “did feel like a betrayal.” The show acknowledged its mistake when it brought Dixie back in ghost form in 2008 and 2010; the character formally returned from the dead before the show’s 2011 ABC finale.

A newly resurfaced Jerry Jacks, who was calling himself Mr. Craig after undergoing plastic surgery, was on the hunt for illicit goods that Lorenzo had stashed in the hotel's vault. He and a team of armed gunmen stormed the property and took hostages including Alan, Carly, Sonny, Nikolas, Lulu, Robin, Emily, Maxie and a pregnant Liz, who were understandably panicked when they learned the lobby was rigged with explosives, which were ultimately detonated.

He replied, "You haven't figured it out yet, Lulu? I love you." It took her a bit of convincing to accept that he was being truthful, but then she told him, "I love you, too."
