Five Things That Happened On December 27 In Soap History

In 1979, Knots Landing premiered on CBS. Though it premiered after its sister show, Dallas, it was not con-ceived as a spinoff; rather, after CBS passed on Creator David Jacobs’s pitch, he created Dallas, and when it was a hit, CBS gave the go-ahead to KL. The series was a huge success and ran for 14 seasons. Among its most popular stars were Ted Shackelford (Gary), Michele Lee (Karen), Joan Van Ark (Val), Kevin Dobson (Mac) and Donna Mills (Abby).

In 2000 on Days of Our Lives, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo (Peter Reckell) renewed their vows. It was Christmas Eve in Salem, and Father Jansen was eager to get the ceremony going so that the church could be cleared out in time for midnight mass to begin. Bo had some nervous moments inside the church when Roman and Abe couldn't find the ring. Crisis averted, Bo made his way down the aisle, followed by Hope, who was escorted by her father, Doug. From there, the ceremony went off without a hitch.

In 2002 on Days of Our Lives, Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin, l.) learned from her mother, Nancy (Patrika Darbo), that her biological father was Craig (Kevin Spirtas). Chloe had previously believed that she was the product of Nancy's rape by her own father's business partner. The truth came out when Chloe was battling leukemia, and the couple had decided to conceive a child that they hoped would be a bone marrow donor match for Chloe.

In 2004, All My Children's Bianca Montgomery (Eden Riegel) emerged from her coma and was reunited with her presumed-dead daughter, Miranda. The baby girl had ended up being raised as the daughter of JR and Babe Chandler, and even after Babe revealed to JR that the child was not theirs, JR refused to relinquish her.  During a heated argument with JR, Bianca fell from a balcony and was left comatose. JR tried to flee with "Bess," but was blocked, and Bianca's mother, Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) performing miracles, raced into Bianca's hospital room with Miranda in her arms and begged her daughter to wake up. "Open your eyes and see your beautiful baby!" As her loved ones flocked to the scene, Bianca's eyes fluttered open and she saw that her prayers had been answered. "My Miranda!" she cried happily as she caressed her child.

In 2010, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) proposed to Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) on General Hospital. "We were supposed to get married a long time ago," he reminded her. "I think it's time we finished what we started." "You think it's just that simple?" Brenda wondered. "No," Sonny responded. "I think that I want you to share your life with me, so marry me." After some reassurance, as Brenda was worried that something would go wrong again, she finally said, "Yes!"
