Martha Madison explained to Soap Opera Digest of the duo's remarriage, "Like most great things in life, it's completely spontaneous, at least for Belle." When Shawn asked Belle to be his wife again, "She’s pleasantly and happily surprised and excited and feeling all of the feelings,” the actress added. The ceremony was performed by Belle's mother, Marlena (Deidre Hall). "The ceremony is very small and sentimental and they do it right there in the living room at John and Marlena’s townhouse,," noted the actress. "The vows are very sweet and meaningful and touch on all of their past and history together, so I really do think it’s one of those Christmas feel-good moments."
