In 1997, Christian J. LeBlanc returned to Young and Restless as Michael Baldwin, a role he had originally played from 1991-93. LeBlanc recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2013, "Four years [after my exit], Bill [Bell, then-executive producer] called and asked me back but I actually said no. I was very apologetic and he understood. I was doing a play but then it didn't go. Thankfully, Bill called again and this time I said yes."

In 2008, Storm Logan (William deVry) accidentally shot his sister Katie Logan (Heather Tom) on Bold and Beautiful. They were struggling over the weapon, which Katie had demanded that Storm hand over to her, when it fired and struck Katie. As Katie fell to the ground, bleeding profusely, a horrified Storm apologized and pleaded with her to hang on. Paramedics arrived and whisked Katie to the hospital.

In 2011 on General Hospital, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst, l.) chickened out of telling Lucky Spencer that he, and not his half brother, Nikolas Cassadine, was the biological father of her youngest son, Aiden. Later, Liz explained to Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) that she couldn't bring herself to spoil the happiness that Lucky had found with Siobhan McKenna. Maxie felt certain that if Lucky knew he was Aiden's father, he would dump Siobhan, but Liz said she didn't want to use Aiden to rekindle things with Lucky.

In 2019, the loved ones of Neil Winters, whose death was scripted following the real-life passing of his beloved portrayer, Kristoff St. John, gathered on Young and Restless to celebrate his life at his memorial service. Among the attendees was Neil's brother, Malcolm, with Daytime Emmy-winner Shemar Moore reprising the role, and Christel Khalil's Lily, Neil's daughter. Of his decision to return to the show to help honor St. John, Moore told Soap Opera Digest, "I was very grateful to get the opportunity, not just because it’s in front of cameras because I didn’t want to shine, but I said my own good-byes in my own personal space. Also, I wanted the fans to know, I want the world to know, how much this man meant to me because I wouldn’t have this life if it wasn’t for Kristoff. And that’s not just being poetic. It’s true."

In 2021 on Days of Our Lives, a devil-possessed Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) served poisoned tea to Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), all part of Satan's scheme to get his horns — er, hooks — into Ben and Ciara's unborn child.
