Young and Restless’s Eileen Davidson Teases Her New Project: ‘I Have been Busy’ (Exclusive)

Comments

The last time that viewers saw Ashley on Young and Restless was back in June when she attended Nikki’s birthday party. However, portrayer Eileen Davidson assures Soap Opera Digest, “Ashley is making a couple of appearances coming up.” However, in between stints on the soap, the actress has been hard at work on a script that she and her niece, Annamarie Davidson, penned together. “I have been busy,” she reports, “writing and then rewrites of a script that we have some interest in. Actually, we just finished [and] now it’s going back to the director.”

Team Effort

This is not the first time that the Y&R Emmy winner and Annamarie have teamed up to craft an original story. “My niece and I are writing partners, and we have been,” Davidson explains. “We were working on a different script when we found out that our producers wanted some rewrites on one before we signed a deal, so that made us stop working on the second script.

“Actually, we’ve written many scripts together,” she adds. “But we were in the middle of something. We put that on hold, and we’ve just been focusing on the rewrites.” She says of collaborating with her niece, “It’s a lot of fun, but it’s a lot of work. I’m really enjoying it.”

Thankfully, the two Davidsons make a pretty good team when it comes to tackling that growing workload. “We’re very close,” the actress shares of their relationship. “So she comes and stays here. We just do like a writing camp, and it’s like everything stops for a period of time. So we’re very happy to have gotten this far and done with it… at this point. So, fingers crossed.”

Y&R fans might be surprised to learn that these scripts aren’t exactly the kind of swoony romances that you’d see airing on Lifetime or the Hallmark Channel. “We tend towards horror and murder,” Davidson says, adding with a chuckle, “Some of the things I come up with, I tell my husband, [Vincent Van Patten, ex-Christian, Y&R], about it, and he just looks at me like, ‘What is wrong with you?’ I’m like, ‘What? It’s great!’ So yeah, it’s a little bit like tongue-in-cheek horror. It’s horror, but there’s also a little humor to it.”
